We went there Saturday night 1/11/25 for my husband birthday day. The place was beautiful decorated for Christmas with warm cozy fire. It was so magical. The service was top notch. You can tell they really care about serving fresh food. The food was incredible. Definitely recommend the house Pinot noir. It was delicious. Then the dessert cart came out. Yes..... a cart came out. OMG so many choices. I took 2 home to eat later. Definitely worth every penny. Treat yourself you will not be disappointed

Years ago, I left a less-than-stellar review for this place, but it’s time to set the record straight! I’ve now dined here three times since my original visit, and each time, I’ve ordered the steak—and wow, it has been absolutely perfect every single time. It rivals my favorite steak spots in DC! The Christmas decorations are as stunning as ever, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. The service is top-notch, and the food has come a long way since my review from four years ago. If you’re on the hunt for the best steak in Vermont, this is the place to be!

Great atmosphere and Bruce was a great host. The problem we ran into was the steaks. I ordered two rare steaks and they brought out two stakes that were medium done, absolutely no pink whatsoever. We apologized tremendously for making a scene but said we asked for rare, the hostess took it kindly but a few minutes later they brought out the replacements shown in this picture. I felt way too bad to complain again, so we ended up not eating and waiting until we got home to cook them. Definitely a terrible situation, super sad I spent $115 for this experience. But honestly might have been just a bad day for the chef, definitely won’t be back though unfortunately.
If you’re ever in Fair Haven (perhaps to celebrate the life of town founder, Matthew Lyon) I highly recommend the Fair Haven Inn. The escargot and monk fish medallions were both incredible.

We visited and were the only people in the restaurant for lunch. We were seated and after 10 minutes waiting with no one coming by we called into the void asking for water. 5 more minutes later another call into the void. No one served us so we got up and left.
Menu items are pricey. They also are fully decorated for Christmas in October? We joked they should spend more money on staff and less on Christmas decorations.

Bed was uncomfortable, pillows were lacking. Comforter was for a twin bed not a full. Plastic cups in the bathroom. Worst offense was the breakfast- dish water coffee and prepackaged muffins- no fruit or cereal. Another guest referred to it as "gas station breakfast". This was a Super 8 experience, not an inn. We will not be back.
