We had our wedding rehearsal dinner at the Hearth & Candle. Could not recommend it highly enough. The meals were delicious, the staff were on top of everything. Akash was tremendous and incredibly responsive while planning. They set the tone for the weekend and it was wonderful.

We were staying at Smugglers Notch resort. With it being the off season this was the only place open.
Food was excellent, taste great but I thought the portions were small for the price.
staff were very friendly

Amazing four cheese ravioli! So delicious and a unique lavender sauce. So well done. The whiskey was incredible.

I had an excellent birthday dinner here! My only constructive criticism is that the scallops main was quite small, especially compared to the other entrées, this was not good value for the price and the people who ordered the scallops dish had to have parts of other people’s mains as the portion was insufficient.

The food was horrible and not with the price.

From cocktails to dessert, Hearth and Candle was exceptional. I heartily recommend the Bread and Butter, Crispy Pork Belly, Crab cake, and Beef Tartare appetizers. The bread and butter may sound like a boring choice, but it was heavenly. My family said the beef tartare was outstanding.

For dinner, we had Filet Mignon, Scallops, Duck Cassoulet, and a Strip Steak special. Each of them was a gastronomic celebration. The Filet Mignon melted in my mouth and my tastebuds will never forget the complimenting flavors. I think the Filet Mignon was the best choice, but some voted for the scallops.

Dessert was Maple Creme Brulee which I will dream about for the rest of my life. My family had the apple crisp, which they said was the best they ever had. The cheese cake was thoroughly enjoyed also.

The best cocktails we had were the Ube Painkiller (clarified), La Sidre, and Strawberries and Cream (clarified). I am not normally a cocktail drinker and I thought all of these were out of this world.

Great place. I go every time I visit Vermont. The staff is amazing and friendly. The food is delicious everytime. Plus the drinks are well made too. I recommend the pepper shots haha.

Hearth and Candle
Though the virtue of a Resturant lies in its food but its is the familiar faces of an establishment who are its real embodiment. No place can claim staff loyalty and an omniscient owner welcome and presence more than Hearth and Candle.

One has hardly entered the doors when a larger than life , smiling French man with a sliver of Indian and an Indian name Akash in his humble working attire welcomes every member of the guests family individually. It appears like an humble host welcoming guest to his Villa . His availability vigilance and memory of guest and their needs is incredible and he sure has imbued the same fine attributes to the rest of his staff.

This letter would not be consummate if I forget to acknowledge the Cheff.
Every single item on the resturant menu is exceptional and exceptionally fresh. It would not be an exaggeration to state that if this restaurant was in a big town it probably would have gotten a Michelin status.

We hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner at Hearth & Candle and had a lovely experience. The food was flavorful and prepared with fresh ingredients, and the cocktails were also very tasty. The ambiance was cozy and we loved being able to have the entire restaurant for our friends and family, right on site at Smugglers Notch Resort. The owner Akash was extremely hospitable and easy to work with. He allowed us to arrive early to decorate the space, pick the music we wanted playing, and had menus printed specifically for our rehearsal dinner. My husband and I dined there the night before our rehearsal dinner as well and had another great meal.

Hearth & Candle Restaurant at Smugglers' Notch Resort provided an exceptional dining experience!

We began our meal with the Loaded Potato Soup, a comforting dish with house bacon, Cabot cheddar, and chives, as well as the Winter Salad, which was a refreshing combination of roasted butternut squash, spinach, dried cherries, chèvre, almonds, and a perfectly balanced cider vinaigrette. Both starters were an excellent start to our evening.

For the main course, I opted for the Filet Mignon, an expertly prepared cut of beef topped with house bacon jam, Bayley Hazen blue cheese, and a rich truffled demi-glace. It was paired beautifully with creamy mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked carrots. My wife had the Faroe Island Salmon, a delicious dish featuring roasted tomato and fennel, yellow rice, and crisp green beans. Every bite was packed with flavor and freshness.

We ended our meal with the Apple Crisp, served warm with Kingdom Creamery maple ice cream—a flawless finale to a perfect evening.

The ambiance was cozy and inviting, and the service was attentive and professional throughout the evening. Hearth & Candle is a must-visit for anyone staying at Smugglers' Notch Resort.

Food was lackluster, interior was not upscale for the price, service was decent but not up to the standard of what they are selling restaurant as. My raviolis were good, as well as the soup, but the portion was so small I was not filled. My girlfriend was served one piece of duck with a can of beans. Her sister got soggy fries and frozen chicken fingers. My mom got the toughest chicken ever and my dad got bitter iceberg lettuce in his salad. $230 for that mess. I am beyond disappointed and will not be coming back.

Honestly the best place to eat in Vermont. The food is amazing, The service was phenomenal and atmosphere was cozy next to the fire place. This will always be one of my favorite places to go!

Always a treat to go to the Hearth for an excellent meal with family and friends. The staff, the food, the cocktails, and the atmosphere are all wonderful. If you find yourself at Smuggler's Notch or anywhere in the area, make a visit, it's more than worth it!

We got dinner here last night, the food was good and the staff was great. I got the lobster and pasta special which was pretty good and my wife got the lamb rack which was also good. My kids got a chicken parm and a cheese burger. We all got deserts and the bill came to 200$. We try to eat here when we visit Smuggs it’s good! Oh and you have to make a reservation
