we enjoyed our stay here! very big fan of the check in process, which is simply picking up the key to your room. and check out was leaving your key in a cup. the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. the quilt was heavy and wonderful. my husband did experience a cold shower in the morning. I did enjoy a hot shower in the afternoon. there were also a dozen or so ladybugs around, however we know that isn’t too much in their control. the bathroom was large and clean. everything was very simple. there is cable tv, however we had to unplug the tv at night bc it acted as a nightlight? any motion and it would brighten for a long time until it was still again. never experienced something like that before. it was very close to town. and close enough to jay peak.

We stayed at the Black Lantern Inn this February to ski Jay Peak. We had a great stay at the Inn. Rooms were clean and the GM, Kathy was great and accommodating. She always had coffee and muffins ready for us every morning before we left for skiing. The restaurant is great as well!Nearby activities: Ski Jay Peak!!

I’ve had the pleasure of dining twice so far this season at the Black Lantern. The food is delicious, the service is impeccable, and the ambiance is warm and inviting.Whether it’s an intimate dinner or a group meal, you will be treated to a wonderful experience from start to finish.

I came in on a Friday night and sat in the pub. Music was the perfect volume, room was warm but not stuffy. There were two of us, we split the poutine, brussels sprouts, and the winter salad with chicken. Perfect amount of food for two people, poutine gravy was rich and winy. My daughter said, “ maybe the US does have better poutine than Canada!” And I said “shhhh they can hear you from the border”. Which is almost true.Tje Brussels were pan fried with bacon and they were delicious. And the winter salad had apples and a maple vinaigrette, a perfect counterpoint to the rich poutine.Service was great, great ambience, Kyle the bartender waited on us while answering phones and mixing up a creative menu of cocktails.Highly recommend

Cozy and Yummy. Nice Fall menu. Everything we had was delicious. The wood stove was fired up and the place has such a cozy ambiance. Nice wine/ cocktail list as well. I would recommend!

I stayed in one of the rooms. The host was great and very polite! My biggest complaint was that the room didn’t seem entirely clean. The upper blanket felt slightly damp/sticky, I saw small hairs on the sheets indicating they likely hadn’t been washed and I saw a small spot of dried pee on the toilet. Other than that, it was mostly clean, but given those things I was not very happy with the cleanliness. Also, the WiFi was very poor in the room, I had to walk to the parking lot to get a decent connection. However, the host was very polite and did put out a breakfast in the morning! It is also a nice historic building. Hopefully those things can be addressed in the future to get the most out of it

Lovely inn with decent rooms and amazing food and coffee. The staff were all very friendly, the prices were fair, and I had no complaints from my 3 night visit.Rooms: Slightly dated mini suites were clean and comfortable. No AC, however they did have boot dryer, which for riding or skiing is really nice.Food & drinks: Amazing food and full bar with great local beers on tap.

In the area for a wedding and arrived to our Air BnB with no power in the town. Decided to drive around bc we were famished after an 8 hr drive and saw lights on here. What a lucky find! Our server Mary was a rock star! Super friendly and taking care of many tables expertly and without seeming frazzled. The food and ambience were great as well. Great spot in a small town!

I had the steak tips which were delicious, and others in my party had the burgers and said they were delish!

There were 6 of us. Everyone agreed that the food was pretty good but way overpriced. I had the calamari. It came out luke warm. Our waitress took it back and brought it out again but it was still only warm. The third time it was finally hot but it certainly suffered from the chef fooling around with it so much. One of our group had the lobster ravioli and said it was more mushy and barely any lobster flaver. We ate on outside on the porch. The table was very unstable and there were no chairs. Just a hard bench with no back.

Hours are a mishmash, reservation message never returned, COVID ignored with staff showing up positive. Expensive & mediocre.

Unassuming rooms in a quaint country inn. Comfortable cozy. We love it here. Not much in the way of breakfast, though. Plan to grab breakfast elsewhere.

I visited here from out of town and they had the most amazing fries I've had. their vegetarian option at the time which was a burger with chèvre cheese was amazing. it's a quaint inn and I really enjoyed the cocktails as well.
