Our family was staying in Burlington. We were headed to Barre and asked where was the best place to eat in the way. The hotel mentioned several places, but she said that the best pizza place was in Montpelier. We decided to look for it and it came up as the best rated/reviewed restaurant in Montpelier on Google. We stopped and had the best pizza that I think we've ever had. The ambiance was perfect, the service was amazing and it was one of the highlights of our trip. Did not disappoint.

Penzo’s is my go-to comfort food feel-at-home spot when I’m in Montpelier (which is often!) delicious fresh food (yes I’ve memorized the menu) and the BEST company!

Solid beer/wine/cocktail list and a well rounded menu with rotating house made desserts, everything we’ve tried over multiple visits has been thoroughly enjoyed.
The Brussel sprouts app is fantastic and the Shrimpy Shrimp were large and well seasoned and cooked perfectly.
The menu pizzas are creative and each one we’ve tried has been a slam dunk, don’t sleep on the Uncle Tony’s or the Truffleufagus.
Our group can’t decide if the made to order chocolate chip cannoli, or the lemon blueberry cheese cake is our favorite dessert, so we’ll be back to settle that debate soon.
Sam was our server this time, and he made our night. We watched him effortlessly charm the entire dining room, while providing excellent service and going entirely out of his way to host our chatty kindergartener. If we hadn’t already planned to be back to eat our way through the menu, we’d be back anyway to enjoy Sam’s company. The whole staff is friendly and welcoming, the restaurant is cozy and inviting, the chairs are comfortable and the food is A+, and we look forward to our next visit!

I spent 2 years in NYC, and Penzo is right up with the very best pizza from the city. Perfect cheese, good sauce, crust is the right balance of crisp and sauce. Appetizers and dessert are also delicious, and there's a good bar. Ambience is quiet and casual, service is fast and friendly.
My only issue is that the Uncle Tony Pepperoni Plus is so absurdly good, that I never get anything else, so I can only review this one pie.
So uh, get the Uncle Tony Pepperoni Plus.

Sam went above and beyond for me and my boyfriend. He served us on Friday night after our car broke down and we came to stay and eat at the Montpelier Inn. Not only was Sam an awesome server and so fun to talk to, but he helped us get our car towed to the dealership. Saturday morning, he met us at the mechanic and bought us coffees and went with us to the dealership to make sure everything was squared away before leaving. I’ve never met someone go that above and beyond and out of his way to help a stranger (now friend). Everyone should go to Penzo and make sure you ask for Sam!!! Wonderful human being.

The restaurant was absolutely wonderful! The staff were extremely kind and welcoming! The food was delicious! Would recommend coming back here! One of the staff, Sam I believe his name is, was an absolute hoot! He chatted with us for most of the night and kept us entertained! Will come back when in town!
