Much better than the Red Barn also on site but Ardelia's has slipped since we last visited it. The waiter was a substitute thus did not know the wines or the food and the "hot" apple crisp came out stone cold. We were charged for 2 glasses of wine but we had only ordered one. In the end the restaurant apologized and deducted the crisp and the wine but slip ups like these should not happen in the first place. Clearly management at Basin Harbor needs more intensification as we were originally given an occupied room - we entered to find clothes all over the floor. Dining at Red Barn was a disaster as the mashed potatoes were cold as ice. We were served a Cobb salad instead of a Kale salad and the waiter did not know what cocktails the bar could make.
This was our second dinner at Ardelia's. This evening we had the Caesar salad, the lamb shank with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and the apple crisp for dessert. Husband had Pinot noir and I had a mocktail that the bartender made for me. Both were excellent. We throughly enjoyed our dinner. Our server, Abdullah, was very attentive.
Ardelia's has an excellent breakfast buffet. There was a wide selection of hot items to choose from, including a make to order omelet bar. It seemed to me that they offered most everything you could want for breakfast. I appreciated the fresh strawberries and blueberries and Greek yogurt and pastries. I noted that there was almond milk and oat milk provided, which told me they are attentive to people like me wanting dairy alternatives. Our server, Sanja, was very attentive, keeping our coffee cups full and dishes cleared.
Upscale dining. Ardelia's had a lot going for it just being on site at the Basin Harbor resort where we were staying. We shared a Caesar salad; we each had a cup of New England clam chowder and the evening special of short rib with mashed potatoes and broccolini. Husband had an excellent Pinot Noir with dinner. I had the flourless chocolate cake for dessert and tea. Salad gets an A. It came with a nice Parmesan crisp on top. Soup was average. Part of the problem was it was barely warm. It had nice pieces of clam in it. The short ribs were good. Half of the meat was excellent, the other half was dry and there wasn't enough sauce/gravy to compensate for the dryness. The mashed potatoes and broccolini were good. The dessert was like fudge, not my preferred style of a flourless cake but some people would like it. They had a nice selection of teas to choose from. Our server was fairly attentive. Our only problem was the hostess. Our reservation was for 7pm. We walked up to the hostess desk at 6:58. She would not seat us because she said we were early and told us to go sit in the waiting area. My husband stared at his watch counting down the two minutes. We went back to the hostess desk and we were seated. Perhaps there is a rule the hostess was following but if she had any discretion in the matter she used it poorly. It was absurd to turn us away for two minutes and it started off the evening on a sour note. Fortunately we did enjoy our meal and the ambiance of Ardelia's.
A fantastic meal and experience. Highly recommend it. Everyone about the setting is divine. The menu was not extensive but had ample choices. The specialty drinks and cocktails were a little high but moderate. As for the food, the price was reasonable, the portions were quite large, the flavors excellent, presentation perfect!!!
Early breakfast is the way to go at Ardelia's. Very few people are there, it is quiet, and the food is bountiful. Outdoor seating is lovely in good weather. We'll be back.

My wife and I spend a week at Basin Harbor every summer and we always enjoy several meals at Ardelia's. That said, this year they are operating at a notch above! We had an outstanding meal last night and were especially impressed with the staffs' sincerity and attention to detail. Needless to say, we highly recommend it and look forward to returning on Saturday!
I can tell that this restaurant has good intentions, but everything just falls a little flat. Food would have been great with some more seasoning, service was slow. It is a beautiful location though, overlooking gardens and the harbor.
We've been coming to Ardelia's for years and last night's dinner was the best yet. Our scallops, salmon, and short ribs were prepared perfectly, and the sauces and vegetables were brilliant- delicious and original. Wonderfully fresh ingredients. The chocolate mousse dessert was also fantastic. The dining room has an exquisite view, and the service is always excellent- friendly but also polished and professional.

We had breakfast at Ardelia's. It was fantastic as ever. Beautiful breakfast/brunch buffet with fresh, high quality Vermont farm to table ingredients including fruit, sausage, maple syrup etc. all delicious. Casual, but the servers are highly professional and proficient. Great coffee too!
Although the servers are very attentive, they cannot balance the lack of food quality, nor the high prices. We were offered bread, but were then appalled to see the added charge of 3.50 on our bill for three mediocre rolls. The whole roasted branzino ($42) had too many bones to be edible, it was swimming in oil, and the broccollini was too tough to eat or cut. The squash ravioli ($28) offered 6 pieces of ravioli, and was very dry with little sauce. Overall, very disappointing.
We were there for breakfast so there was no dress code requirement. (Not a fan of dress codes in restaurants.) The breakfast was truly outstanding. Anything you can imagine for breakfast is there. Highly, highly recommend!
We were on a boat. We docked without any help (first time in three months. After a rain storm, the powere went out. Got through to harbormaster who said the breakers would be checked. No other communication tilll morning when the power did come on. Three phone calls not returned. The food truck was closed at the marina despite the schedule. The reason for a second star was the museum on site.
Basin Harbor is beautiful with sweeping views of Lake Champlain, an awesome waterfront to hang out at, and great staff who are so kind! Our accommodation was lovely and clean and there was always something to do, whether it’s drinks at the red mill, the Olympic sized swimming pool, new hot tubs, or boats to rent! Loved it all!
