“Highly recommend Black Sheep Bistro. Super cozy, wonderful staff, and delicious food. The Thai broiled haddock is to die for. We love the duck as well. The salads are excellent starters. We haven't tried dessert yet, because the food is so delicious and filling. Thank you and we will be back soon !”
“Amazing place !!!!So friendly and happy staffLunch was great and the ice cream was deliciousIf you’re coming thru the area… you must stop in ❤️❤️❤️”
“Stopped in to order lunch to-go. They instructed me it would be 25min+. I agreed and waited. They were visibly busy and churning out meals left and right to the patrons at tables. My order took about 35 minutes which I was totally fine with. The gentlemen who helped me felt bad, thanked me again and threw in two extra homemade cookies. Not expected at all and a very nice gesture. Now for the food.....It was amazing! I had the fried chicken sandwich and bought a few baked goods for my family at home. Prices were very reasonable and food 10/10. We will definitely be back. Thanks for a great experience!”
“I absolutely love this store. The owners are super nice. The deli is very good. The pizza and everything else is always fresh and wicked good. If the store doesn’t have something you need or want on a regular basis they will order it and start stocking it just for you. It’s nice to be able to step into a store that has that small town feel, with really nice employees. There aren’t many stores that are like this now days. I recommend if you’re in the area and you are looking for something good to eat and you want something fresh, this is the place to go. They are super friendly and very reasonably priced!”
“I came to Vergennes from New Jersey for the eclipse and we stopped at Olsen’s ice cream while we waited for totality. They are easily one of my top 3 favorite ice cream shops. The maple creemee was absolute perfection, and they went above and beyond to accommodate my boyfriend’s tree nut allergy. We watched them sanitize the soft serve machine and even open a new package of sprinkles just for us to prevent any cross contamination. I would make the 6 hour drive from Jersey again just to come here!”
“Had a great dinner experience at this chill, back-of-town place. Great vibe/atmosphere. Food was very good - brussel sprouts, crispy fish and chips, maple bread pudding for dessert. All really good. Low-ish alcohol (5.0%) IPA from attached Hired Hand brewing was very good. Recommend this place. Looking forward to going back.”
“Delicious food and beer! I normally am not a fan of Amber Lagers but theirs was delicious! We sat on the patio and they allow dogs so our pups got to relax with ”
“Maple Cafe has lovely drinks, desserts and bagels. The service can be hit or miss but I still like coming here. It is quiet and you can find a little corner or table to just relax and enjoy your food. Be patient with the staff as it's been hard for businesses to find reliable employees. Give yourself some time and don't be in a hurry if you come here.”
“Mixed vegetables stir fry was tasty. Singapore Mai Fun was delicious…although I’m from Singapore and I don’t get why there’s curry powder in there. And there’s the reliable American version of the sweet and sour sauce, standard across all Chinese restaurants which makes me think they all bought from the same distributor. All in, a good meal that hit the spot.”
“Great food and service. Had the pesto chicken which was very tasty. I would like to see more and larger pieces of chicken in it. Local beer on tap. Had a staring contest with the moose on the wall. He won.”
“Came on the day of the eclipse and the town was so hectic! However, the Rockers Pizzeria team was amazing!! Despite the chaos of the day and some customers treating the staff poorly, the staff was beyond kind and patient with everyone. They were able to get our two pizzas ready in around 30 minutes when I’m sure there were 5839382 other orders going on. The pizza was perfect and savory. This place absolutely killed it and I would 1000% come back if I’m near the area.”
“went to buy at this subway and they treated me like garbage just because I asked them if they had tuna, what bad service the fat lady and the girl give, one is going to spend not being treated badly”
“Delicious ? cookies ? We stopped in and grabbed the 3 for $5 cookies deal. We got 3 different options, and they were all amazing!!! We will stop again and try some different cookies next time. Puppy love, chocolate chip, and snikerdoodle were our choices this time. They were all warm, fresh, soft, and delicious ?”
“Nice spot to decompress and have some of Vermont's own cider. Short self guided tour with some info but the main attraction is the tasting room and the cider. The tasting room was very nice and comfortable. The bartender was great to talk to and get to know. I will be coming more often.”
“We have been wanting to visit The Starry Night Cafe for years! Driving down Rt 7 it always looked so cozy. We were right, it is super cozy and the food and service were amazing! We ate in a beautiful room with a real wood fireplace, our server was delightful and attentive and made us feel like cherished guests! The food was delicious from the warm grilled bread to start all the way until the sweet maple meringues to end the meal! We highly recommend!”
“I’ve heard a lot of chatter about how this local cafe has been doing great for the community! I stopped in to grab a nice cup of coffee and leave a few business cards for the locals. Essex Ice Cream Cafe not only has amazing food and coffee but also phenomenal service! The owner Todd was very friendly and professional to speak with. I’m glad I stopped in to meet another local business owner, looking forward to shopping there more often!”
“As a Vermonter, Woodchuck is the first cider I started drinking (and my favorite). I now live in the Chattanooga, TN area and can only get limited flavors. On a recent trip to Vermont my goal was to go to the cidery and do some taste testing and buy some cider. My friend and I split 3 flights and I bought 3 different ciders. I also learned that Woodchuck is the only importer of Magner's cider, my other favorite. And, psst, they bottle all of Aldi's cider too! (Though they aren't supposed to tell you that, the address on the label says so.) The production line wasn't running, unfortunately, but it was cool to hear how much their production has increased. Now all we need down here is a distributor who'll bring us better selections!”
“Stopped in on our way home after the breakfast rush and they made us delicious breakfast sandwiches! Broke down and also got some croissants and sooo crisp and fresh. Really worth the trip ?.”
“Found you during the pandemic, what a gem in my own “backyard”. I didn’t know you existed. Thankful to have access to superior Vermont flour. It has made my sourdough bread & baked good outstanding! I’ve been baking for 50 years, this is by far the best quality flour ever???thank you”
“A solid sports bar in rural Vermont. We arrived after the happy hour crowd had cleared out, so the vibe was mostly locals. We enjoyed prompt, friendly service and draft beer. The menu features the usual tavern fare plus a broad range of made-to-order pizzas and calzones. We settled on the Caesar salad and a pepperoni calzone. The salad was good and large - definitely a portion for two - and the calzone was excellent: a crispy crust stuffed with a hot, flavorful blend of ricotta and mozzarella and plenty of pepperonis. This is also an entree to share, although one person could put it away if you skip an appetizer. The marinara sauce for the calzone deserves its own paragraph. It must be homemade, as it’s just that good: tart without being sour, sweet (tomatoes are fruit, right?) without being sugary. We were enjoying it so much, we asked for a second terrine.Next time, I’ll try the burger, but that sauce is so good – you can’t go wrong with the pizzas.”
“Fast friendly service which is rare to find these days.. highly recommend stopping in for a cup of coffee and a donutParking: Oversized parking lot.. plenty of spaceKid-friendliness: Very kind and fast.. hellos worth kids to go in and outWheelchair accessibility: Wide door ways and accessible bathrooms as well. Wide oversized isles”
“Just stopped in for a gift card and a coffee so didn't expect much, but was surprised by the personable service and friendly smile I was met with. Fries and coffee both hot as could be. Props to Marion the crew member who seemed to be running the whole show.”
“I go to Vergennes Laundry whenever I can! Entering feels like a warm hug, with the aroma of baked goods in the air. The staff is friendly and well trained. The food is delectable, as is the coffee. Cardamom buns, sour dough croissants, anything from the pastry case! And the Turkish eggs are incredible. You’llalways find a cool treat on the shelves, whether it’s chocolate or a mustard. Make sure to stop by or make a trip. You won’t be disappointed!”
