Don’t care for the new owner out look on the place . I Ben coming to the rainbow for 35 years . I only come because of the staff . Wish them the best . But like the golden steak . It’s gone .
Rainbow Cafe has that old school diner feel that is harder to fake than people realize. Nothing fancy, and honestly that is part of the whole appeal. You walk in, sit down, and the place seems to understand exactly what it is there to do. The food is good, the portions are solid, and it is the kind of spot where you can actually relax for a minute instead of feeling like the table is on a timer. It feels like somewhere your coffee might get refilled before you even realize it...
I’ve been a frequent visitor to this place, but this time was a letdown. Two transients were walking back and forth around the dining area, clearly under the influence. The food arrived after an unusually long wait of 37 minutes. While this wasn’t necessarily a problem, it was disappointing to see the cook take some of my fries from my plate before placing them in the heating rack for pickup. To make matters worse, my 6-ounce steak tasted like liver and looked like a 2-ounce...
