We are retired and spend our Saturdays on food hunts. Lately it’s been hot dogs. We drove down from Kirkland to the doghouse in Des Moines, I ordered the bacon dog and put cheese on it, and my wife ordered the Seattle dog. Straight up? They were delicious! We sat outside at one of the three shaded tables on a busy cross street a couple of blocks up from the water – very nice ambience. The hotdogs were oversized, quarter pound, delicious all beef, and stuck...
If you have not tried Delsy's Colombian secret salsa yet, you are missing out. I have been back seven times now, and it is because of this salsa, plain and simple. Des Moines Doghouse leveled up with this green sauce — fresh herby with just a little kick to it. The secret slasa turns a basic hot dog and tots into something completely different. I have had it loaded on a hot dog with grilled onions and on a full tray of tots with grilled onion ... both were outstanding!!!

The owner and the cashier were booth very helpful. They were out of fish so I got a Chicago dog which was great. They had a water bowl for our dog on the patio. The owner said the dog could also come inside, but the weather was nice so we were happy on the patio. The dogs are huge. Definitely 2 meals worth. We stopped for lunch and had dinner to take home.
