My son took me out to celebrate my last day of chemo. We had the absolute BEST dinner. I definitely would put it in my top 5. My son and I agree, it was the best steak we ever had. We checked out the connected art studio/gallery bext door. Very good vibes here. One thing I will.menti9n though, is that the online menu doesn't necessarily match up.with what is offered. Our sides were different. We weren't disappointed at all. But if you are online, and hoping for a particular item, maybe call first to make sure. Highly recommend this place.

Well, I must admit, I enjoyed this venue more than I expected. Being part of the "silent generation", I am not into trendy fusion creations (=$$$$) at snooty places. The staff, to a person, was welcoming and so cordial. The service was impeccable, timely, professional, and personable. The happy hour wine and drinks were good, though slection seemed limited. The food was delicious, nicely presented, warm, and tasty. Wife's steak salad was outstanding...the beef was mouth watering, tender, and perfectly done. My Manila clams were plentiful, warm, though I do prefer Penn Cove mussels, could have used some dipping bread for the tasty liquid.

I give 4.5. Very nice ambiance. Not too pretentious. Very tasty cocktails. The entrees were delicious (steak salad & Crab Gnochi). The menu was focused and inventive with local flavors. Portions were generous (to offset a healthy price tag). And the staff were top notch.

Have a wonderful experience every time I go to Charcoal whether it is a date night with my hubby or happy hour with my friends. Favorite meal is the Sparkling Rose, Charred Rainbow Carrots, and the Smash Burger with Battered Fries!

A disappointment starting with being charged for lackluster bread, moving to a too sweet butternut squash soup and then a lackluster Wagyu Sirloin entree. Plus, drenching a wild salmon in soy sauce should be against the law. Service though was stellar. Our server was energetic and helpful. She allowed tastes of several wines by the glass because several were just too sweet, not balanced at all. The Chilean Carmenere was the best of the reds but suffered by being served at room temp. The bottle list is thoughtful but overpriced. Not recommended.

Food was so good and love the atmosphere! We loved the butternut squash soup, bone marrow, clams and pumpkin bread pudding. Crab gnocchi was good too. Didn't really care for the s'mores dessert.

One of the best meals we've ever had. We stopped in on a busy Saturday night after seeing some of the reviews and this place did not disappoint. We did have a reservation and were sat right away. The waitress greeted us and pointed out a few highlights then left us to narrow down what looked good. We decided on a a couple cocktails, trio of dips, duck breast and a steak. Everything came out timely and looked and tasted delicious. The drink selection was vast and we chose a nice bourbon to go with the crème brulee. Can't wait to come back.

Food and service were impeccable on a very busy Valentine night. The food is quite pricey (meal for two with drinks and tip, $400+) and for that I expect better ambience than sitting in the industrial open doorway of an art museum. That's my only complaint. Lobster bisque was to die for. Trout grilled on open flame with a ginger sauce, fabulous flavors. Servers who anticipate your needs. On-point bar with great creations (try the Smoke Wagon). We'll be back!

Lovely cozy atmosphere, great HH food and drinks. Clams were yummy though Id have preferred my fries not delivered in their broth- maybe ask ahead if this is your preference too. Don't forget to try the Pumpkin bread pudding!

First off, Edmonds dining scene has come a long way over the past 10-years. One of its newest additions is Charcoal in downtown Edmonds. I don't know why we didn't visit Charcoal sooner! If you are familiar with the greater Seattle dining scene you know the top tier restaurants. Charcoal is indeed one of them (think Copine and Barking Frog). While simple, the menu is well thought out and creative. On our visit last night we had the Mussels/Frites in chardonnay broth; the frites were perfect, crispy and perfectly salted. They were a compliment to the mussels in the nectar. We shared the large steak, cooked perfectly with grilled vegetables and a horseradish sauce. We expect to visit again and again! One request: perhaps some special tasting menus or experiences in the future? I would be excited to see what the creative team in the kitchen would come up with!

Our visit to celebrate a birthday was just lovely all around. We enjoyed the ambience and the food was scrumptious. We were treated to a complimentary glass of champagne because it was my birthday. What a nice surprise! All the wait staff were very kind, friendly and attentive. We were very impressed and will return.

Im telling all my friends to have dinner here. A birthday celebration with my friend, we made reservations. (A commitment which I have not done forever and loved it) the cocktails were delicious. My cocktails included rye whiskey sipped thru an egg white top. It was so delicious it was worth 2. The season fresh list had a chicken dish that melted in your mouth. I had the duck that had the perfect local fruit compote. Desert again was the perfect finish to a fantastic meal. Im going to return for another tasteful dinner.

This is the best food and ambiance in Edmonds. They pay attention to quality, platting, creativity. And, they are evidently using quality suppliers for their food, unlike most other places in town. This is the one restaurant that is upscale and elegant enough to be considered "date night". The only thing they lack is an espresso machine; it seems to be too labor intensive for this establishment to be worthwhile.
