I’m not one to exaggerate. This is my favorite restaurant in Washington. The cabbage alone could be served in a five star fine dining restaurant in a major city and it comes served at a good price on Dixie plates because it is perfect, amazing, and unpretentious. The harcho is the best soup in a thousand mile radius. The cabbage sampler is the best pickled cabbage I have tasted and I’ve lived all over the world. Wow. Just take my money.

I don’t want to write this because I want to gatekeep sooo badly. But, this is the best borcht, kvass, pelmini and other pickled treats you can get. Hidden in the downstairs area of Banya, it’s a gem.

I keep coming back because the food is consistently delicious! Everything is made fresh with real love and care - you can taste the difference. Authentic Ukrainian cuisine at its best. The flavors remind me of traditional homemade meals. Highly recommend!
