Went there for Valentine's Day with my wife which has become something of a tradition. Had a great table where we could watch the steaks being cooked. As usual the service was excellent and the food is still some of the best in Whatcom County. Always a pleasure to go there and I highly recommend this place.

Food is great, service is terrible! like the worst! you walk in and there is no waiting area, you just stand around until someone decides to notice you after walking past you many times. The older dark haired waitress is just rude and has a tone in her voice that is not needed in a customer service environment. We waited 20min for drinks my wife asked the dark haired waitress that was changing a table cloth if we could please get our drinks and she snapped back that there is a party of 40 in the back and they are going as fast as they can. obviously if you are changing a table cloth you can go get my drinks... also we were out of water and an the waitress left an empty pitcher on our table.to the response below - this kind of attitude can be seen in all of the new owners Matthew and Angel goering’s responses to less than favorable reviews both on here and on Facebook reviews, very unprofessional and a poor reflection of their community. again proof that customer service and a kind bed side manor is clearly not something that your business prides yourself on. i have spent many hundreds of dollars at your establishment over the last 2 weeks, driven an hour each way to and from Everson for your food. but you have lost my business for good due to your response below. I don't care if she wasn't our waitress, customer service is a group effort and you work in a team work environment. Clearly there is a need for better management and possibly ownership because these kind of issues start at the top and that's where they get corrected, but with a response like the one below its clear that management isn't running this business, just your over inflated ego.

Okay.... We were way late to the party in discovering this gem in Everson, WA. First off Everson is about 55 miles from my door but it's worth the drive trust me. Herb Niemann's is an established restaurant that has been around a long time. The inside is mostly all wood and stone accents. Representative of days gone by. Kind of has a north woods lodge feel to it. They have a full bar on the premises that features a separate bar menu with smaller portions and lower prices. It also has its own separate entrance right on the corner. It's all dark wood and dim lighting. Perfect. The menu concentrates on German fare and steaks. If you want a steak you can get a Porterhouse here. You don't see that cut in most places. I went with the Jaeger Schnitzel. It came with a mushroom gravy poured over the cutlets and spaetzle. It was excellent. There was also some excellent weinkraut that was just the right amount of tart. Mrs Billy D had the Schnitzel Cordon Bleu. Her plate had German fried potatoes and I have to say they were very good. Portion size was on the large side and coupled with our appetizer and soup and salad we took home containers. I need to mention the French Onion Soup. I love that soup and this one was one of the better ones I have had. Mrs. Billy D had a Berry Punch cocktail. It was basically a Huckleberry Long Island Iced Tea. She had a pair of them (Woo-Hoo! ) I have to mention the wait staff. I felt like an extra in a Russ Meyer movie. All the employees I saw were female and stunningly attractive. They were all smiles and they were doing a great job. I enjoyed banter with our server. She said she was the sister of the owner but I did not catch her name. They all looked like they were doing a good job. Shout out to the gent manning the grill. He was putting in some work back there grilling the steaks. Way to knock 'em out my man. You are appreciated. We really enjoyed our visit and considering the amount of food we had the prices were very reasonable. We will be returning. We like riding our motorcycles up that way so this will be a preferred stop minus the Berry Punch cocktails of course. Herb's rates more than 5 stars so here is a couple extra !!

I have been here several times, and our experience has always been perfection. Last night, unfortunately, was not. It was a long trip out of our way, but I was desperately craving the steak. I ordered the seared Ahi Tuna appetizer, and that was perfect, and delicious. My drinks were also top notch. I ordered the filet mignon, and was sadly, very disappointed. It was overcooked, and tasted horrible. It tasted like the gas they cooked it with. If I pay $51 for a 6 oz. cut of meat flown in from Nebraska, it had better taste like it. I let the very kind server know, but I was never offered a replacement, or compensation. I wolfed it down anyway, because I hadn’t eaten all day. The ambiance and classical music at the front of the house was beautiful, and my son thoroughly enjoyed it as well, but halfway through dinner, it was drowned out by the loud hip hop in the kitchen. I met a woman in the restroom who commented the same. Not that I don’t love me some hip hop, but the contrast was obnoxious. I will not take the time to dine here again, and I honestly hate leaving this review, because of the experience we have had in the past.

The bartender rob who worked there is disrespectful towards the woman. Don't know what his deal is but had an attitude with me. I wouldn't go to this place when he's working. (When I went last)Also I hope he was fired because I saw another comment on here where he did something similar to another woman.

Peaceful vibe. kind, articulate, soft spoken waitress. Great quiet atmosphere, yet always busy because of the great food. Just got an appetizer and the best apple strudel I've ever had.
