Cafe Rio Fresh Modern Mexican

The girls making my food were great and the cashier was great as well, I bought a flour tortilla by itself it was cold so I went back and asked if they can warm up my tortilla the girl said yes, but the female making them said very rudely “no, you can not take food back” which I understand but there’s ways of saying things or offering a new warm tortilla, didn’t have to take it back and then she’s shaking her head. I like this place and their tortillas are so good but warm, very disappointed.

I love this food but seeing this while waiting in line is one way to completely ruin an appetite. Keep in mind this was done in the evening while they had 3 hours left to close. no doubt they cooked more meat on there after he stepped his shoes all over the grill.

One of my favorite places to stop when passing through Federal Way. Recently had the shrimp tacos and they were Soo tasty.

We went to Cafe Rio today with some friends. When I ordered my tacos, I said no cheese, because they melt cheese on the tortillas. The employee still put cheese on. So I asked again for no cheese, and she just picked some of the cheese off the tortillas. Then I asked for new tortillas with no cheese but she ignored me and just used the original.
Everyone else in my group waited in line for 15+ minutes when only a few people were in front of them. The employees didn’t seem engaged or desiring to be working.
The restaurant was also very dirty (dirty counters, tables, floors, chairs). Didn’t seem sanitary on the serving line and in the kitchen.
I normally love cafe Rio, but this location is not the same as some of the others. For the price of the food, the experience and food should be better but it wasn’t.

Very good restaurant! Food is always good and it is very customizable. Just be careful what ad ons you get cuz sometimes they cost extra.

Never again! I used to frequent CR. I will never go again. They now charge you for putting hot sauce on your food. I mean what in the greedy BS is going on. This is the type of greed that will bring a franchise down. Never again!

Don’t usually leave bad reviews but the service and lack of cleanliness was so bad I feel obligated. The staff was eating tortillas on the line. They put cheese in my wife’s food after she said no cheese then proceeded to attempt to pick it out with their fingers. Would definitely avoid and keep going towards chipotle.

Cafe Rio is the restaurant I would choose if I could only have one restaurant on an island or anywhere nearby, I could eat it every day of my life and never get sick of it. If you haven’t tried the SWEET PORK, that succulent sweet sweet pork, you need to, it’s life changing! Also their creamy tomatillo sauce, green chile sauce, and tres leches should be on a type of Mount Rushmore. It’s not true Mexican food, but such a great twist/fusion/brilliant food chemistry done right. Great store, please don’t go away like all of my favorite stores are doing since covid, te amo cafe Rio!!

The tortilla soup used to be amazing, today I couldnt eat it because it was nasty

I placed an online order for dinner for myself and my toddler. We walked in to pick up our order and they did not have a record of the order being placed. Even though I showed them the charge on my bank account and told them exactly what the order was, the manager refused to fill my order. My toddler was crying and frustrated in the restaurant, and the only thing the manager would do was tell me to call corporate. This was especially frustrating considering that I was living in a hotel due to a water leak in my home; it’s not like I had the choice to just go home and cook for my child. It was one of the rudest and most uncaring situations I have ever been in. Zero customer service skills and I would never spend my money with that company again. Manager was JJ Castro, and he was an absolute jerk and a THIEF. Took my money and refused to fill my order for a hungry and screaming toddler. Heartless.
