We came here for a family dinner in March. The place was cozy and service was great. I got the scallops and it was delicious. The mussels for appetizer felt slightly undercooked though.

Read a couple of the negative reviews and I have no idea what they’re talking about.
We came here on a whim and honestly just for the clams that we saw on a google review pic. We never expected the place to look this amazing. The lighting, the ambience, the fire place we were seated directly in front of. Amazing.
Service was impeccable and beyond polite. The food was incredible. We both ordered the filet mignon which was easily 10+ ounces and perfectly cooked. Honestly one of the best filets that I’ve had. It came with potatoes and a broccoli. For the price—fantastic. We had a bottle of wine as well which paired great.
My only slight complaint is there could be some more local options for wines.
We would absolutely come here again. Especially in the summer so we could enjoy the outside fire pits. Highly recommend this “out of place” fine dining experience.

The food was amazing, the atmosphere was perfect for a romantic dinner on our weekend getaway. It is nestled in the woods on the island and feels a million miles away, yet is a short drive from our Bed and Breakfast. Make sure you make a reservation, this place is very popular.

My stomach became upset after dinner because they don't offer any options or accommodations for dietary restrictions, like dairy intolerance

The WORST service at a restaurant that I’ve ever had. Not kidding. Food was good and service was horrid. Our table of six waited at least 20 minutes before we even saw a server acknowledge that we were in the restaurant. And from that point forward service was horrid simply horrid. The food was good, but I will never go back to this restaurant because of how they treated our table.
We left the restaurant in a taxi and our taxi driver said the restaurant called them to say we were horrible clients. Are you kidding me? Who does that? Ridiculous. Duck Soup you suck on multiple levels. Wow. We have eaten in restaurants around the world and never been treated so poorly. ??
Funny comment below that the entire restaurant cheered as we left after finishing our meal. This is not true. There were 2 other tables in Duck Soup with friends of ours that were also dining that same night at the same time and they validated that this did NOT occur. Nice try attempting to deflect your poor service. If you want to be a restaurant where your patrons don’t converse and sit quietly at their tables, set expectations accordingly.

We saved our visit to Duck Soup for the final night of our stay in San Juan Island. Sadly our dinner here was a huge disappointment. We ordered the Ivory salmon. It was fishy-tasting and overcooked, and the flavors on the plate did not go together. The food was lukewarm. My husband ordered the Steak Diane. It was basically served as a pot roast —overcooked and covered in a gravy sauce that was similar to what you’d get at a cafeteria. Unless reviews change, we will not be returning. Our dinner was $200 and was a complete waste of money.

Staff was rude and service slow!
This manager could be the most unprofessional leader I have ever met. She is unable to delegate simple tasks to her staff, is untruthful, and apparently very vindictive.
In her reply, she says that the entire dining room and staff applauded when our group left. This is a lie! There were two tables of friends still eating at the time of our departure and nothing like that occurred. If it were true, shame on them - very unprofessional.
As our group left, one of the staff members said a derogatory comment to us, which left us in a "wow" moment. The story is not over.....while traveling back to our hotel, the manager of the restaurant called our cab driver (it's a small town) and asked him to charge us triple.
From all of this, one would think we were out of control, caused damage to the property, cussed out the staff, made inappropriate comments, were mean, argued with customers, etc. Nope - we were probably too loud and were definitely enjoying each others company.

Love the ambiance! It's so cute to sit outdoors in the garden. Very different than most dining experiences! The menu options are very unique. You will probably see food combinations you have not eaten before. But, everything tends to be very delicious. Try it when you're feeling adventurous.
