The food is great. First time here, so I tried the crab cakes with carribean salsa. It comes with veggies and rice or potatoes. The salsa was perfect, sweet with the crab cakes. The crab cakes themselves were soft and tender. The whole thing just comes together perfectly! I also tried the pink lemonade, which was good as well, nice and tart! Highly recommend a visit. They got an outside seating area, perfect for those sunny days!

tl;dr -- If you find yourself in Gig Harbor, or are in the Seattle/Tacoma area LOOK FOR THIS TROLLEY. Marketplace Grille! A vision, a feast, a wholesome memory of food and friendliness that everyone deserves to experience. If I could give 6 stars I would!! My friends and I had to leave a nearby restaurant b/c I forgot my ID...(I'm 31, but have a round face). We came across this trolley and thought, "Why not? It looks cute and smells AMAZING"...wow. It did not disappoint.FOOD WE ORDERED: I had the Broiled Halibut Sandwich, friends got Fish and Chips, Shrimp Croissant sandwich, and the Paella (curried!) and we all LOVED it. We also shared an order of calamari and it was so...delicate? Unbelievable. The food was extremely fresh and the fries especially could breathe life into the dead, I swear. So crispy and fluffy and perfectly seasoned at the same time.ATMOSPHERE/SERVICE: The woman who took our order told us it was her and her husband that worked there together and it was a family-owned operation. She was so friendly and inquired about us as well. There was also some Caribbean music playing which was such a vibe and the couple were from Trinidad and Tobago so the whole experience from the food to the service to the atmosphere was just incredibly welcoming and wholesome.OVERALL: My friends and I were in town for a festival and we all marveled at how LIFE-GIVING their food would be at any concert venue, especially those fries. I wish we had taken pictures of our food but we simply dove into it all as soon as we got it. There was also such a diverse group of customers -- a group of teens with fishing lines, families, my group of friends as well... :)Kid-friendliness: Literally a group of teenaged looking boys came by with their fishing gear and sat nearby chatting and enjoying themselves and their food. Loved it. Families with kids were also at ease in this space.

The chowder was great, but the crab cakes were soggy and not fully cooked. Fish and chips were pretty bland.Food would be great after a night of drinking, but wouldn't go out of my way to just eat here.

Food was pretty good. The lady helping us was very chatty and soooo slow and inefficient. Actually complained out loud when a few people came in line and told us there was another fish place close by! Took forever to just take our order and just as long to receive it. Sat in the hot afternoon sun just waiting…

Great walk up location. me and my dog. Took my burger on the boat as we cruised to vashon Island. Surprisingly great!
The wait was long with just a couple people in front of us and the food was disappointing. My husband ordered fish and chips and that were very bland and I had a grilled sandwich that was was hard as a rock and not great overall.

We really enjoyed our trip to Gig Harbor. We were a bit surprised that the Marketplace Grill was an old train Trolley and not an indoor restaurant. Not a big deal. We still enjoyed ourselves and really like dining there.Kid-friendliness: Definitely kid friendlyParking: Street parking is free and there is a free parking lot also. You might have to park a ways from the harbor area during festivals and the summer months

Tried to eat there three times, once it was closed, and twice we were told the wait for food was 30-45 minutes. There was no line and we were ordering salads. I’m not sure this new venue works for you Marketplace Grille…

Lady taking orders was nice but the food was so disappointing. The portion sizes were pitiful and even it has been tasty, it wouldn’t have constituted a full meal or justified the price. I should have taken a picture but didn’t want to let the memory of that meal live on any longer than that.

What better place to enjoy a midday meal than a picnic table at The Trolly within a stone’s throw of the water. Ordering is like shooting the breeze with a friend with a friend. All cooked to order and worth however many minutes it takes. The chowder is creamy with nice chunks of clams, the fried coconut shrimp is so tasty with a sweet chili sauce. Man, it is a picnic! Get on down there and enjoy some fresh air food!
