Definitely an older restaurant aimed at the locals. They don't have a lot of competition, the fish and chips were not fresh, the breading was oily and not crispy with little flavor. They need to rethink the Cole slaw.

Would give zero star if that was a choice. Absolutely the worst experience for our family get together at this place. After a wait of almost an hour, they seat us on a table, right next to a restroom. As we start ordering, the service person out of nowhere asks my daughter for an ID. We were there for a family meal, not sitting on the bar and nobody was ordering a drink. My daughter is 25+ and had a digital ID. They refused to accept that ID and asked us to leave. Talked to the “Manager”, but of no avail. Nobody else in the room was being asked for an ID, almost felt like a selective discrimination.

We've been loving The Tides Tavern for ages. Incredible menu. I love the seasonal changes. The Lobster Roll is fantastic. The staff are wonderful. Always happy and smiling. If you haven't been, GO!

As I was trying to leave the restaurant after a very mediocre meal and way overpriced one of the young waiters decided to step right in front of me as I was trying to exit and when I said excuse me he told me in a very condescending and snotty tone "I'm trying to seat guests!" I replied that he didn't have to step right in front of me as I'm passing through and he could have waited for me to walk by but he had a little bitchie attitude. My group and I were astonished at the attitude. We have a group that gets together of local men and usually about 12 to 15 of us and we've decided we will never go back as a group after the experience overall.

Great place to stop to grab a drink & bite. Stopped at Tides during a boating trip. Very cool that you can dock there and eat on your boat or go inside. Had a great time, good food and the staff was very friendly ?

The fish and chips are good, but skip the cup of chowder for nearly $12! It's basic, and had large pieces of tough clams - not worth the money. At $50/person for fish and chips and chowder (no drinks) this didn't hit the mark.
