Always love this restaurant, they were short staffed so the service was off but I don't blame the server. My fettuccine was overcooked. But I will be back because I think this was just an off night.
20 years after a poor customer service experience at Volterra's Ballard location, we decided to give the restaurant another try. Unfortunately, the terrible service we received did not change my opinion of the restaurant. We put in our dinner orders within 10 minutes of being seated, but it took over an hour for our pastas to arrive. Within that time, we saw other tables be seated, finish their entire meals, and receive their checks. Our brusque and inattentive server provided no explanation for the extreme delay in our pasta dishes, and rather than offering to comp another glass of wine or take something off our check, he asked if we wanted more bread while we waited. It was really quite breathtaking. No one checked on us to ask if our entrees were to our liking or if we needed anything else, and at the end of the meal, our server simply came and placed dessert menus on our table without asking. I then had to flag down another server to ask for our check, and when our server finally brought it, he thanked us for our patience with the meal, nothing more. I'm sorry to say that despite having delicious food, I will not be bringing my dining dollars to Volterra ever again. In this day and age I would expect better customer service.
We had a lovely dinner. Andy was our waiter and he was very good about listening to our wishes. The restaurant wasn't that crowded. My friend and I hadn't seen each other for some time so we asked Andy to slow down our dinner so we could enjoy our wine. He was very accommodating. Our dinner was great. We really enjoyed our evening!!
The boar was spectacular! All of the entrees were delicious and well prepared. Tasty bread as well. The interior is a bit tight and a little noisy. The food more than compensates for that shortcoming.
Always great, service is a 6 star, food is awesome,
The taste of the food was outstanding! Also, our server was extremely knowledgeable. I'll definitely be going back.
Nice restaurant but a little small. Asked for a booth but host said all were reserved (we did have reservations) so sat in the middle of the restaurant. Appetizers were good. The cauliflower was delicious. Entrees not so much. Food was REALLY salty. I couldn't eat much of it. My husband's as well. Service was good.
As always the good and drink were fantastic! I had the halibut it was yummy and my mother in law really appreciated the eggplant ravioli in the smaller portion. She said it was very good and my husband had the half a chicken and he really enjoyed that too. The food is always good. Thank you very much for a nice Mother's Day meal!
Great food & location! Small place in downtown Kirkland. Nicely appointed, but maybe a little tight with the seating. Not problematic, but difficult to have an entirely private conversation. Well thought out Italian themed menu that isn't overly expansive, yet has something for just about anyone. Offerings are familiar w/ some cool, unique twists. Wine list is solid and cocktails are creative yet approachable. Service was good. Attentive, timely and professional. Pricing was about what you would expect for a decent Kirkland place...a bit on the high end, but not oppressive. A solid date night choice.
Volterra is my favorite restaurant in Kirkland. The food and service is always top notch. They also have the best cocktails! We went to Sunday brunch and it was delicious. Don't skip the crab cake eggs Benedict. Super yummy.

The new Sunday brunch menu is amazing!
Excellent experience! From the call for reservations to the whole dinner experience itself, all was amazing! Our waiter was stellar. Attention to every detail. Food was delicious, the presentation was gorgeous. We ate three courses, and enjoyed every bite. Thank you Volterra, we will be back.
We had a great dinner here about a month ago, but the highly recommended mushroom and pork jowel dish could not have been more bland. Service great again otherwise.
The food here is always delicious. Our group ordered many different things and they were all amazing. The lamb meatball appetizer was fantastic. I got the Tagliatelle Bolognese which was absolutely incredible and everyone else was very happy with their choices as well. Our server was great as well. Always a good time here.
Great upscale happy hour
