This was our first time at Volterra and we will definitely be back. Both the service and the food were excellent.
Our meal was incredible. We had the cauliflower appetizer. It was to die for. We also had the pasta bolognese and clam linguine. That, followed with espresso martinis and Gelato. Every sip and bite was delicious. Victor, our server was a total delight. Attentive, totally likeable and there with a wine pour or extra bread as needed. Overall a memorable evening worthy of a return to try more items on the menu.
Food quality and service were superlative. One of best Italian dinners we have had in greater Seattle. Only concern, not exclusive to Volterra, is cost of dinners out is getting insanely expensive everywhere.
I've been here quite a few times, however this was not a great experience. Both of our meals were well done even though we both asked for med rare. Like....they were cooked brown all the way through. Tough to eat. The people next to us had the same situation. Not sure I'll be returning any time soon.
Our server was outstanding. He was very attentive and consistently replenished our drinks without us having to ask. Our appetizers and meals arrived promptly and were well-prepared and plated. We were a party of 4 and ordered the boar, the crab ravioli, the halibut, and the chicken. Meal-wise the boar was positively the least favorite, everything else was good. The dinner was for a birthday celebration and our server brought a tiramisu with a candle, thoughtful and lovely.
Our waitstaff person Atilla was so friendly, attentive and professional. We hope to have him again. Also the hostess was willing to give us a different table when I asked not to be put by the kitchen due to food allergies as well as a dislike for being placed near the bathrooms. I appreciated her response.
Our dining experience for the most part was outstanding, except that the tables are too close to each other along the back wall. It's difficult to have a meaningful conversation with your partner when the tables are so close together. It is disruptive and claustrophobic. It's difficult to get out of your seat without disturbing the diners next to you. i wish you could look at a better way to organize the tables so that the seating is better.
The food and service here are great. The ambiance is a little loud because the place is so busy and has an open kitchen. But it has a vibrant feel to it.
I have been coming to Volterra for years. Food is still top notch but I must say the service has taken a serious nose dive within the past couple of years. Service is horrible. You have to wait 15-20 mins to get drinks and then another 15-20 mins to get asked to place your order. We had to flag down our waiter 3 times and this is not the first time it's happened. If the restaurant owners are reviewing these comments, please take them as constructive criticism.... If you don't fix this service issue, your business will suffer and you're too good for that. Your food is phenomenal.
It had been over a year since I had been to Volterra. I was not disappointed. Our server Vic was helpful without being overbearing. And the food was excellent. We will not wait another year before we return again. Great for foodies without being pretentious

Our 67th anniversary halibut dinner was wonderful. My husband was having mobility issues after getting up from the table even those he has a walker. Two servers were so concerned they walked us home...two blocks. Service supreme. We are so grateful
Always love this restaurant, they were short staffed so the service was off but I don't blame the server. My fettuccine was overcooked. But I will be back because I think this was just an off night.
20 years after a poor customer service experience at Volterra's Ballard location, we decided to give the restaurant another try. Unfortunately, the terrible service we received did not change my opinion of the restaurant. We put in our dinner orders within 10 minutes of being seated, but it took over an hour for our pastas to arrive. Within that time, we saw other tables be seated, finish their entire meals, and receive their checks. Our brusque and inattentive server provided no explanation for the extreme delay in our pasta dishes, and rather than offering to comp another glass of wine or take something off our check, he asked if we wanted more bread while we waited. It was really quite breathtaking. No one checked on us to ask if our entrees were to our liking or if we needed anything else, and at the end of the meal, our server simply came and placed dessert menus on our table without asking. I then had to flag down another server to ask for our check, and when our server finally brought it, he thanked us for our patience with the meal, nothing more. I'm sorry to say that despite having delicious food, I will not be bringing my dining dollars to Volterra ever again. In this day and age I would expect better customer service.
We had a lovely dinner. Andy was our waiter and he was very good about listening to our wishes. The restaurant wasn't that crowded. My friend and I hadn't seen each other for some time so we asked Andy to slow down our dinner so we could enjoy our wine. He was very accommodating. Our dinner was great. We really enjoyed our evening!!
The boar was spectacular! All of the entrees were delicious and well prepared. Tasty bread as well. The interior is a bit tight and a little noisy. The food more than compensates for that shortcoming.
