This place isn’t getting the recognition it deserves. By far the best. The pastries are soft, supple, tender, and oozing with rich flavors including ube and coconut cream. The cream to donut ratio is die for. I’d give my entire check to this bakery if I could.
I spent some time in the Philippines in March.During that time I grew fond of Pandesal I found in Bulacan. A slightly sweet bun with a nice slightly chewy texture. It was served while warm with my breakfast. I was hoping to find that same taste and texture at Joy Joy. Unfortunately I was a little more than underwhelmed with the hamburger shaped bun I found there. I will continue my search for the Pandesal type I grew fond of in Bulacan.
We came for the siopao but couldnโt resist grabbing malasadas, Spanish bread, chocolate cookies, fried banana lumpia, and even croc jibbets! ๐ I had the pork siopao (was secretly hoping for an egg inside ๐) but the pork was sweet and tasty, and the bun was steamed just right.
The malasadas thoughโฆ WOW. Warm, soft, sugary goodness. I tried a few flavors but honestly the plain sugar one stole my heartโit totally reminded me of Leonardโs in Hawaii!...
