Food was ok, had my stomach upset in the night, I think there were only 2 employees in the place.

My wife left a cash tip and paid with our card and they still added another tip for themselves. You can't be a small business and steal from customers. Not to mention every time we came in it seemed our food was cooked by someone new.

The drink was spectacular, but as for the food don’t let the picture fool you you couldn’t even bite through the meat , it was so tough no flavor, and it was put into greasy water broth at the bottom. Absolutely the worst I have had yet.

My favorite Mexican restaurant on the peninsula. I eat there every time I come to town. Chimichangas and Chili Relleno are my favorites.

We were really liking this restaurant and stopped going to el compadres a while back because of it, mainly because they have lingua tacos but this last time there it was a horrible le experience, horrible service, horrible drinks and horrible food. The shredded beef was rough like a poorly cooked pot roast, we chewed forever and still couldn't get it to break up enough to have a safe feeling swallow and the sauces were way off too idk what happened since the last 10x we've been there but might not go back after this tbh

It feels like a totally different restaurant than the one I tried last year. Same place and name. I had the chorizo egg plate and it was yummy and flavorful but not too spicy. Hubby had their taquitos and nachos with beef. Said the meat was tender and really good! We will be returning more often. Also closer to where I live and can walk to!

The atmosphere and service was great, the chicken enchiladas didn't have any seasoning, just a little sauce and no cheese, the tamal was okay, but the masa was mushy and was very spicy, 2 clumps of pork. The shrimp taco was good, had tons of shrimp

If the food was better, this would be a good place to eat. Atmosphere and service was pretty good. The food...whoa, it was terrible. I ordered the carne asada y mas. The carne asada was 1 strip of skirt steak the strip was about 1 ¹/² inch wide and maybe 9 inches long so portion was a total ripoff. The "mas" was a chimichanga was boiled chicken with no seasoning in a deep fried tortilla. The tortillas that came with the carne asada were stale. The fish tacos were terrible. I took one bite and said nope. If there is anything that saves this place, it is the horchata. It was pretty good. If you are looking for horchata, this is a good place. If you are looking for Mexican food, look elsewhere.

These guys have the best breakfast burrito....I could go a few times a week. Timely and fresh and they are all so nice. A great gem in our little seaside town...

As a restaurant in Long Beach, this is 4 stars for me because of their hours and menu, but outside Long Beach, it's more like 3 stars for the quality when compared to other Mexican and non-Mexican restaurants with the same items. We came here twice during our stay in Long Beach because El Mar was always open and has a lot of options to choose from. Their menu is huge and even includes American / western food items like burgers, fish and chips, hot dogs, chicken strips, breakfast, etc.We got enchiladas on the first day. There's nothing too special or bad about them, except the portions (enchiladas, rice, beans, and side veggies - basically everything) are smaller than some other Mexican restaurants I've been to. The quality / taste was mediocre, so I wouldn't order those again. The next day, we got the flautas, which were much better and even bigger / more in quantity than the enchiladas (just less rice, beans, and salad). It also came with guacamole for no extra charge. I also appreciated that the staff was always willing to refill our chips and salsa. Plus, on the second day, they offered us a green salsa that was very tasty. Their red salsa isn't too bad either, since I would drink it. However, the drinks weren't that strong alcohol-wise (paloma and cadillac margarita), but that's standard for most Mexican restaurants or any restaurants in general. I also didn't pay attention to their special menu items above the cash register (which I regret), so next time I would want to try the birria ramen, quesa-birria, etc.
