Looking for friendly service? Look elsewhere. This restaurant offers a self-serve, self-seat experience with a menu displayed on an LCD screen. While the staff wasn't overly friendly, that might not be a dealbreaker for everyone. Now, onto the food. The star of the show was definitely the chippies. However, the chowder, which should have been the main attraction, was a disappointment. An overwhelming amount of black pepper overpowered the other flavors, despite having a good amount of clams and a nice bacon note.At just over $65 for two large chowders, two small chowders, sides, and drinks, the price felt steep for the overall experience. The tipping kiosk starting at 15% further added to the impression that the value wasn't quite there. Here's a quick breakdown of the other not-so-great aspects:Limited restroom facilities: One unisex toilet with no lock on the door.Accessibility issues: The layout might be difficult to navigate for those using wheelchairs.Limited parking: Parking is located across the street from the restaurant.Overall vibe: The restaurant felt more like a glorified food truck shack than a sit-down dining experience. In conclusion, this restaurant might be okay for a quick bite if you're not looking for much ambiance or service and LOVE BLACK PEPPER. However, for the price, there are likely better options available.

Would be very cool if they had an outdoor patio but even if it was served out of a shoebox it would still be worth it LoL. Really good food!

This was by far the best salad I have gotten on the Peninsula! And it wasn't even all there. I have a dairy allergy so I ate it dry (dressing has dairy) and it was still amazing. Staff were so helpful and went out of the way to make sure my food came prepared correctly. The presentation was also beautiful!Dietary restrictions: Just ask and they will help!

This is self-service small restaurant, using the disposable meal set. The price is not cheap. Ordered clam chowders and side salad, which are ok.

We visited on a cool weekend day and found the staff was friendly, patient, and service orientated. We ordered three lunches — chowder, fish and chips, and calamari. All food was excellent. The seafood was lightly battered and golden brown. We really enjoyed ourselves and will return when visiting LB in the future.

Relaxing with amazing food best burger I have had in a hot minute. All 4 off us liked our food. We had chowder fish and chips burger and panini.
Self service little shop right next to the opening of Long Beach. Pretty standard kind of food for a little eatery next to the beach. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The fried items tasted quite fresh and seemed battered in house, not from frozen. We got the fried halibut and fried oysters, not at all overly fishy. Clam chowder was quite good, albeit on the salty side. Overall great experience!

The Chowder Stop was a really good find, right off the Long Beach Arch. The chowder in bread bowl was delicious - the bread comes from Dylan’s Balery around the corner and it was some of the softest bread I’ve ever had. The chowder was rich, nice clammy chunks - perfect temp! The halibut and chips were good - however on one of the three pieces, the breading was still really doughy - not fried through all the way. Last but not least, the oyster shooters. These were some meaty oysters - SO GOOD and for only $3/each? However… they’re served in a plastic shot glass (like what you’d make Jell-O shots in) on top of cole slaw - which made it really hard to “shoot” - so we ate them with spoons. Overall, don’t sleep on this place, just some minor notes from our visit. We will be back next time we’re in town!

Holy mother of all that is good. Got the clam chowder in a bread bowl and it was awesome. The pieces they cut out of the bread they toast with a bunch of butter that is soooo good.My friend had the Philly cheesesteak and loooved it as well. I was skeptical at $16 but he said it was 100% worth it.My little one had the shrimp cocktail and they were nice big shrimp. We all agreed we’d be back to order the same things.Service was excellent and the people were so nice with my thousands of annoying questions. 5 stars no doubt.
