Literally the best tasting/quality bread I’ve ever had in Washington. And I’ve tried a lot of artisan bread. I always buy multiple loaves and freeze one of them if it’s sliced. Some of them use wheat grown on Lopez! Amazing local, fresh and whole grain loaves. 😍 🍞
This place is a hidden gem rustic, charming, and full of character. The scratch-made baked goods are phenomenal and absolutely worth the stop.
I was also hoping to find something local to bring back home, and they had beautiful linen kitchen towels with “Lopez Island” on them, which made the perfect souvenir.
The only downside was the service could have been better. I found myself having to do my own research to learn what makes this place...

Barn Owl is among the best bakeries we’ve encountered, particularly if you are looking for GF (gluten-free) options. We placed an order in advance and when we got off the ferry from Anacortes and arrived just before closing our order was waiting. We heartily recommend the following: Trail Cookie, Lemon Oat Shortbread, Sourdough Sesame Bagels & Crackers, GF Bread, Sourdough Chocolate Croissants and GF Seasonal Fruit Scone.
