Barn Owl is among the best bakeries we’ve encountered, particularly if you are looking for GF (gluten-free) options. We placed an order in advance and when we got off the ferry from Anacortes and arrived just before closing our order was waiting. We heartily recommend the following: Trail Cookie, Lemon Oat Shortbread, Sourdough Sesame Bagels & Crackers, GF Bread, Sourdough Chocolate Croissants and GF Seasonal Fruit Scone.
It's a bakery that's tucked away on Lopez Island - we biked here from town and wow! It's in such a gorgeous little pocket. There's fresh bread at 3:30 on Thursday and Friday, otherwise you can shop what's leftover or get items at the stores in town. The bread was amazing and the butter? A perfect companion for it. The flaky layered pastries are also a winner - you gotta try the little pizza flats that they have.

I was also hoping to find something local to bring back home, and they had beautiful linen kitchen towels with “Lopez Island” on them, which made the perfect souvenir.
The only downside was the service could have been better. I found myself having to do my own research to learn what makes this place...
