We love this place but there is a specific protocol to ordering and drinking your coffee here! They are firm about no subs and want to provide you a cultural experience of a Viennese coffee house. What’s not to appreciate about that?? We especially love the Châtillon chaser that comes with the salon einspanner. Worth your visit and do t be caught off guard by the German menu, the servers walk you through it!

Coffee was excellent and service was wonderful. We will return.
This coffee shop is something special. It’s unapologetically Austrian, and they make that clear from the start -- no custom drinks, no tweaks, just the menu as it is. As a non‑Austrian, I didn’t recognize much, and my puzzled stare at the board immediately gave me away. Luckily, the woman at the counter was warm and patient, guiding me through the choices.
I went with an Einspänner and an apricot Danish, then found myself sinking into a surprisingly comfortable leather chair beside an electric fireplace. The shop is small and atmospheric: Mozart playing softly, portraits of Austrian royalty, and German-language memorabilia everywhere. I’ve never been to Vienna, but this felt close.
The Einspänner was less sweet than I expected, strong and satisfying, served with a little soda water -- an elegant touch. The Danish was delicious. They made it clear that they handle clearing the tables and encouraged me to linger.
This isn’t the place for laptops or work. It’s a place to talk, relax, and briefly escape American suburbia. Well done, Kaffeehaus de Châtillon -- or shall I say, “Gut gemacht!”
One of the best cafés I’ve visited in the United States! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the music is great, and everything is spotless. The interior is beautifully designed in a classic, elegant style that makes the whole experience even more enjoyable.
The coffee is absolutely outstanding—easily some of the best I’ve had. The service is also exceptional. The staff is friendly, attentive, and truly professional.
Thank you for such a wonderful experience! This was my first visit, but definitely not my last. I’ll be recommending this place to my friends and will happily come back again.

I understand and respect the café’s stated concept and adult-oriented policy. My feedback is based solely on my service experience during the visit. From arrival, no one appeared particularly welcoming, and the tone of interaction did not feel warm or inviting. I also overheard staff comments that contributed to an uncomfortable atmosphere. While I appreciate the intent and presentation, the overall hospitality did not reflect the level of service expected for the pricing and positioning.

Please also check the other lowest reviews, you will see the same pattern.
This place was a letdown. The staff were not friendly, heard them openly talking about us and giving judgmental looks that made the whole experience uncomfortable. It’s definitely not kid‑friendly they kept staring at our kids and making faces. We ended up grabbing our food and leaving.
The drink was the only thing we enjoyed. The pastries were dry, not fresh, and there weren’t many options. The interior looks great, which is why we went in, but we regretted it almost immediately. I do not recommend this place at all, but you can give it a try:)

Get into character before you go! Very serious cosplay of dignified, upper crust, white aristocracy. Think Disneyland’s take on a Vienna coffee house but with true believers cast as the staff.
There’s even a portrait of Margaret Thatcher (Britain’s Regan) behind the counter 😅
Reviewing their responses to negative reviews is the best insight into this place.
Obviously plenty of people are into it. If you can suspend disbelief than you’re in a strip mall across from a bus stop you can indulge your fantasies of being dominated by condescending, seething guardians of “Western culture.”

All the food and drink are perfection
I have lived in Vienna where some of the finest coffees are served. This cafe is serves the real thing including Sachertorte ( cake) on Saturday but delivers an ambiance that is just stunning. I did not expect that in a strip mall in Lynnwood but was wonderfully surprised. I will never go back to Starbucks
Delicious coffee and warm environment love it

First time experience: you’ll walk in and instantly see many signs telling you how *different* this place is. It caters to adults, preferably, “Sophisticants and Beautiful People.” You aren’t to ask for anything that isn’t on their menu, you cannot make any substitutions, and they imply you are a simpleton for even wanting to. You cannot bring any outside food or beverage.
The employee at the counter will give you a 30 second speech if it’s your first time, even if they’ve just given the same speech to the people in front of you. It is an exhausting process. You’ll order. If you can say the mixture of French and German words with a passing fluency the employees will give you a polite toothless smile. The employees are dressed in what can only be described as low effort Ren-Faire corsets with Maroon blouses that tackily match the decor.
You’ll sit down and your order will be brought to you on a tray.
The drink and croissant au frommage I had was good, excellent, even.
Then you’ll notice during your conversation that this bastion of sophistication hangs copies of a far-right newspaper like flags from their counter. You’ll notice they have a drive thru (very authentic Viennese drive thru, I’m sure). Unfortunately, you’ll see a tv with a tacky wannabe 19th century frame around it playing a French movie without sound. Lastly, you’ll see you’re surrounded by framed treatises with the establishment’s garish rhetoric plastered on the walls.
The worst thing for this establishment is for their clientele to be what they want it to be: intelligent, sophisticated, and beautiful. For, surely, they will, as I have, see the white-supremacist mediocrity that drives their pretentious, hackneyed attempt at sophistication and culture.
Do I recommend this circus of an establishment?
No. Non. Nein.

The coffee and the food were indeed delicious. Unfortunately, I noticed two prominently displayed copies of The Epoch Times (a far-right newspaper known mainly for spreading propaganda and conspiracy theories e.g. anti-vaccine misinformation, QAnon, and 2020 election fraud, as well as being staunchly pro-Trump) on their counter which felt like a dog-whistle. There wasn’t a single other newspaper in the establishment, just two copies of The Epoch Times prominently hanging like flags. The degree to which Viennese/Austrian culture is exalted in combination with those newspapers turned the experience sour for me, for what I hope are obvious reasons. I won’t be returning.

Unfortunately the reviews about rude staff are all true. The way they responded to low reviews also reflects that management here doesn’t care much about customer service anyway.
The coffee they served here wasn’t better than any other coffee you can get in greater Seattle area so you won’t miss out anything if you skip this place , so do SKIP IT if you expect nicer service.
