A well known local Japanese restaurant hidden in this classic cottage. We have two lunches on two consecutive days, because we found out that the owner is moving back to her home country, and will change to new management after Christmas, and we have so many things we want to try.On the first day, we chose a bento box lunch and a sashimi set. Their qualities are good, teriyaki chicken is tender, and veggie tempura are fresh with light coating. We tried shabu shabu on the next day, customer need to pre order it one day before. They just use the very simple Kumbo broth to bring out the natural favour of ribeye and other ingredients, the portion is good for sharing, All other dishes are nice and yummy. Many old customers come and farewell the owner, who is busy training up new owner's team, I hope the new management can keep up their standards.

LOVE this restaurant! One of our favorite places in Skagit Valley. Beautiful atmosphere in a cool old building, surrounded by a lovely little Japanese garden. The ramen and tempura are out of this world, along with everything else on the menu! I highly recommend!!!

The food quality, portions and service were excellent here. Truly a gem out here in Mount Vernon. Heard rumors they are closing soon I really hope they don't. If you're in the area totally worth checking out better than a lot of sushi places and teriyaki places between here and Lynnwood. About the same pricing but the portions and quality of ingredients are extraordinary. The chicken katsu was all white meat juicy and tender and the katsu sauce made from scratch was to die for... beautiful presentation as well. Sorry no pics we were hungry lol

Cool old building. Kinda neat dark old vibe. Great waitress . Nigiri was outstanding. The krokkoro really crispy on the outside and so creamy inside with a sweet and savory steak sauce. So good. The yellowtail roll was good but the smoked salmon was a really nice .

The host was VERY rude she basically was telling us to leave. She kept changing the wait time and acting annoyed that we were still there. Never going back there. We ended up leaving. Would give a zero if I could.

Got katsu chicken, portion was quiet large but, it was very very bland, but the sauce served on the side tasted like salt and only salt and not in a soy sauce good way. The vibe in the joint was pretty awkward and the main server just seemed annoyed that we were there. I really wanted it to be good, as a hole in the wall usually is, but this was a bust.

Was a little worried when we arrived and it was pretty empty and there was no lunch menu. However we ended up being really pleased with the food, service and large portion sizes. It was very quiet inside - if the owners could add some ambient music it would improve the atmosphere. Will visit again!

You have a chance to help build community and instead you are harassing people parking outside your lot. Disgusting!

We LOVED this place. The food was excellent, service very good. My wife and I both had the Salmon Bento with California roll and Edamame which proved to be a tortuously and temptingly huge amount of food, but we gave it our best effort. ??❤️ One suggestion: add Japanese background music
