Been coming here for years. I don't care about the atmosphere of this hole in the wall (even though it's pretty awesome to come and watch a game at if you're an introvert and don't like crowds) I don't care about the service of this hole in the wall place, cause the owner is multi-tasking and doesn't have time for silly shit. You can't always tell a book by its cover. That was the lesson I learned from my lunch at Gabriel's Fire. The tiny run down building is hidden behind a broken down food truck. There was a neon Open sign in the window, so I pulled into the little parking lot. The beat up door looked like something you would find on a condemned building. The food outshines the restaurant and service, both of which were lackluster. It's a basic no-frills bbq joint...they don't have salt and pepper on the table, and the mac-n-cheese begs for both.
We had the ribs plate, brisket plate and brisket sandwich with gumbo side. On the plates, a tiny portion cup of BBQ sauce accompanies the included Mac and cheese and choice of slaw, fries or beans.
The slaw was fresh, crunchy and delicious!...
