Omg! So we are currently in the room!!!! It's 3:33am and some weird sounds are starting to happen. We literally saw a large tall man standing in the bathroom but when we turned the lights on, there was no one there. Seems friendly enough though as we are still alive! My friend here who is a Self-Proclaimed "Ghost Expert" thinks that it signifies protection in vulnerable spaces aka creepy bathrooms. We just heard another sound like moaning of a female and the expert at hand thinks it's a sign to get naked and dance with the spirit. Seems friendly enough though as we are still alive!Wow! Just saw face of a god dripping from the ceiling And falling down the walls. The "Ghost Expert" interprets that as,  "Very nice excited, this vision is a 10 out of 10 as seeing the face of God is good luck!"Seems friendly enough though as we are still alive! It's now 4:32AM and the room is full of a certain fragrance of Jasmine flowers! The "Ghost Expert" interprets that as,  "it's good luck as that's the smell of growth in life"Seems friendly enough though as we are still alive! It's now 5:43 AM and there's a presence. We ar

It's haunted and it's very true.

Well, it's a castle and the building is cool, so it has that going for it. The beds are not too bad, and there is a mini fridge in the room.Unfortunately, that is pretty much where the pros end. The place was not clean - mold and hair left in the bathroom. The room did not have enough surfaces to put things on, not even a nightstand. The TV had nothing to watch and the USB ports on it did not work. The staff was nice, but the building is not very accessible. The novelty of a place only goes so far, and I would not stay here again unless they get new management that prioritizes taking care of guests and has experience in the hospitality industry to know what kind of room accommodations are needed for a satisfying guest experience.

Super fun old-school hotel /castle. Beds are firm but nice and pillows were awesome. I think it's haunted, but maybe it was just a weird night, that's part of the allure.

I really wanted to like this place. ? The room was not as described. Cleanliness was an issue. The bed was supposed to be a king, but it wasn't. It was extremely uncomfortable as well. Also, the television was not working. After 4 different remote controls, we gave up. There was no phone in the room, so it was a constant back and forth to the front desk through the elements to get the remotes. The desk staff was friendly and did try to help as much as they could. It would have been nice if maintenance was available. The microwave was not clean and only worked for 1 minute intervals. Anything longer, and it would trip the breaker. After using the toilet once, it continually ran. Overall, the grounds were nice. Just wish the room was clean and as described. Port Townsend itself is wonderful and definitely worth the trip.

My husband and I have visited the men race at Castle many times in the past and loved every time we stayed. But this last time which was two nights ago everything went downhill in a heartbeat. Not only did we have to wait almost 30 minutes before someone came to the front desk after calling and calling and calling and nobody answering the phone.... The clerk was very rude and by the time we got to the room it was very dirty and the floors were very sticky. Nothing was plugged in..... No lights, no alarm clocks... My husband had to set up the cable TV because it was unplugged as well. The room was very small. Probably one of the smallest ones they have and not worth the price....... You are only paying for the review of the water. The restaurant and the bar that were in the hotel are no longer there. We've heard that the Manresa has gone under new management. It is just not the same as it once was. I hope things will turn around for this hotel. It was such a nice place. My husband and I won't be going back for a long time.

Great place to stay with friendly staff. ?They did a great job in preserving the historical aspects of the hotel. If you go there and expect to see ghosts and spirits, then you will need to bring equipment. My advice is an Ovilus and / or an Xls/Sls camera. I can say from experience and there are a lot of them. Check out the evidence we caught on YouTube channel Spiritsbeyond.

Someone at the hardware store insisted we go here and tour to get some spooks before we continue our drive- it was the middle of the night but we stopped by anyway. The ladies at the front desk were so nice and kind and we were able to walk around a couple areas in the main floor , they also gave us a guide about their resident ghosts. Fun for a last minute stop

The only scary thing in this Castle are the rooms. The musty smell and the thought of the stained bedding/towels and creepy crawlers will be the only thing haunting you here. It certainly haunted us the entire night, but we were too tired from flying and driving all day to switch hotels. Ughhh it was an awful night with not much sleep.Upon opening the door to our room we were overcome by a heavy musty smell. We had the windows wide open the entire stay and it was in the mid 30’s outside. The bedding coverlet had yellow stains on it that looked unwashed. I pulled it back just to find that the white comforter underneath had round yellow marks/stains as well. Pulling it back, the sheets looked dirty. Found human hair (body and head) in the sheets, pilling at the feet and the pillow cases had makeup marks/ stains on them. One pillow case was so worn out you could literally see through it. They also don’t use zipper pillow covers underneath the pillow cases. So frightening! The beautiful oak headboard had a broken piece hanging off of the top, the seating consisted of two very stained orange upholstered chairs from the 70’s. The marks looked like black grease so I was too scared to sit on them for fear it would transfer to my pants. The curtain on the door of the room was literally an old throw blanket that they tacked over the window to keep the hallway light out.The bathroom smelled of bleach so I assumed it was clean until I saw the horrifying bathtub! Scum stuck on the sides and fresh dirt drippings on the edge of the tub. The supposed clean hand towel was so stained It made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck!I was very disappointed in the room. This castle is beautiful, but the rooms are flat out scary! The only haunting I experienced was This room we paid over $125 for.Do not stay here!!! Visit and stroll around the downstairs library and other common areas to fulfill your curiosity, but the rooms are disgusting. Stay anywhere else but here. For such a beautiful building I am shocked and disappointed that they don’t provide quality and clean rooms/ linens to their guests.Good thing the hospital is across the street so you can stop in to get your hepatitis, tetanus shot, and maybe some anti fungal and antibiotics as well. What a huge disappointment and definitely a scary overnight experience. This experience will haunt us for years to come.Rooms: ?

Had a very spooky stay in the 3rd floor suite. Definitely not a place i would stay for a high end room but i gave it 5 stars for the ambiance. The staff were amazing and the location was super beautiful. We had a fantastic view of the water. The bar and restaurant were closed unfortunately but there is a QFC a block away. We brought our EMF reader and it was going nuts on the 3rd floor. I've never seen it go to the red unless there was an obvious reason. Nothing electrical nearby and we detected a lot activity. Fun if you are looking for a little ghost hunt. The staff encouraged our little investigation which was nice. Would stay there again!Walkability: Super close to lots of nearby amenities

I had initially booked my stay at Manresa Castle as part of a weekend getaway to celebrate a honeymoon for our 18-year wedding anniversary (Halloween). As a couple we enjoy visiting historically rich areas and exploring them. Manresa Castle is certainly one of those locations in the Pacific Northwest.I was informed, via e-mail, approximately a week prior that there would be a Halloween Costume Party hosted by the hotel. No worries, I've been to plenty of hosted events at hotels in the past. We arrived to the hotel around 4pm, placed our luggage into our room, got comfortable and left Port Townsend around 6pm to go have dinner. When we returned around 8:30pm the parking lot was filled with cars. Cars were parked extending for blocks along the city streets while people packed into Manresa Castle. I had to walk inside and ask for assistance in finding a place that was suitable to park without the risk of being towed away. I was then directed to a garage that was quite a distance from the hotel to park my car in front of. As we walked back into the hotel it was crammed with people and we were getting bounced around as we made our way back to our room on the second floor. Imagine frat-house parties you see in the movies where people are running around holding beers in their hands and screaming over the sound of loud music thumping. That's what it was like. And yes, it was like this all over Manresa Castle. Including in front of our room. Then we got to deal with the wafting odor of people using dab pens in the hallway which I popped my head out the door and watched (they kindly offered but I refused). People talking and hollering in the halls until 2-2:30am. The next morning, we woke around 6:30am to get ready to leave and discovered the hot water didn't work in the bathroom sink. We went to check out at 7:50am. On our way down to the receptionist desk there were beer bottles littered all over the place on the floor in halls and on tables in the lobby. Reception area was closed by a curtain of sorts so I placed my room card somewhere kind of close enough under the curtain. Upon exiting Manresa Castle Hotel there were pumpkins smashed all over the parking lot. This was a completely disorganized and chaotic event that showed immense disregard for the paying guests. It was also a great disrespect to the history of the building. It was a disheartening experience overall. The room we stayed in was decent enough. I liked the vintage reproduction refrigerator and large walk-in closet. The placement of the television in relation to it blocking the use of chairs in the room was odd considering the height of the ceiling and how raising the television 30-inches higher and tilting the screen downward would have allowed use of both chairs and made for better viewing from the bed. It was quaint, but the charm was lost by the horrible experience.A similar review was submitted to Manresa Castle Hotel but no follow-up was received from them.

While the atmosphere is charming and the staff are accommodating, there are a few things to left to be desired.the pros:the antique feel of the lobby and the grounds is charming and cozy. Our first room was quaint and adorable and I wouldn't have been surprised to see a friendly ghost wander about! the rooms were surprisingly quiet even with the appropriately squeaky stairs right outside. Even the detached bathroom was spacious and charming. The staff was very responsive and helpful, both in getting around the place and giving recommendations. Everyone was friendly.the cons:This is NOT ACCESSIBLE. Part of the reason I chose this place was it had an elevator for my limited mobility friend. The elevator does work, but it is staff run, so there is a bit more planning in when we go come and go from our 3rd floor room. There are some ramps from the parking lot, but none that go to the doors...which seems a bit odd. We were able to make it work, but if you can't manage at least some stairs- this is not the place to stay.We also had an issue with the plumbing in our detached bath- one that couldn't be fixed right away, so we were moved to another room with an attached bath...which smelled strongly of mildew and a very noisy fan. We were able to air it out over a few hours, but this room was certainly showing some wear..,and not in a charming way.Overall I would stay here again, with some adjusted expectations.

While the historical charm is nice, it doesn't outweigh the hotel's need for renovations, and I can't recommend staying here.Pros:-Historical building with nice garden-Friendly front desk staffCons:-The carpet in the room was covered in stains. It looked like it had never been cleaned.-Their was clearly a patch job done on the bedroom walls but no one bothered to paint it to match the rest of the walls.-Mini-fridge was missing the handle-Halls and stairs are so creaky you'll be woken up whenever someone walks by if you're not a heavy sleeper.-Bathrooms are separate from bedrooms and very cramped
