Food was amazing tasting and presentation was beautiful. Four in our party and we each ordered something different and each person enjoyed their meal. I loved the sizzling rice soup. The general Tao’s chicken was a hit, too. Everything was so good that 3 of our party went back the next day for more! Jason treated us well and made us feel special. Next time in PT, we’ll be back!

Best Chinese Food in Port Townsend!
Shanghai Chinese is hands-down, the best Chinese restaurant in town! The moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm, friendly service that makes you feel right at home. The casual atmosphere is inviting and perfect for everything from a quick lunch to a relaxed family dinner.
What really sets them apart is the quality—every dish is made with fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. You can taste the care that goes into each bite. The menu has something for everyone, and the portions are generous. Our family especially loves the Mongolian beef, egg foo young, handmade potstickers, and their fresh veggie stir-fry with culinary art food designs!
Whether you're local or just passing through, Shanghai Chinese is a must-visit. Family-friendly, flavorful, and consistently amazing. We keep coming back—and it never disappoints! Thanks, Jason and family.

locals love Shanghai.
i think their version of pho noodle soup comes together a lot better than the local competition. ask about tendon.
solid yellow curry and lots of access to nice fresh veg without a ton of grease.
Jason still runs this place with his beloved mother Nu, but this local institution (soon to celebrate 40 years in business) sadly won't be around forever.
the smell is the creosote piles the ancient place is built on.

One of the best restaurants in Port Townsend by far.
Celebrated my birthday here giving the restaurant short notice for a party of 9. Everyone enjoyed their various selections of dishes.
Food was delicious and the service was great.
Delicious food, kind staff and just good service. Highly recommend to anyone, I've been looking for a Chinese place in the area and I'll be happy to drive an hour to eat here. Feels like family.

Hands down the best meal I’ve had in a very long time.
We are a family of 6 with 4 young kids. We loved the play area for kids, I wish more places offered this amenity.
The food was fantastic. We ordered a large quantity of food and we didn’t have a bite leftover. It was that good!
We visit the area often and will definitely be returning here, as we have all agreed, this is our family’s new favorite restaurant.
Every employee we encountered was nice and friendly and engaged with us and our children.
Thank you!!

Our son recently got married in lovely Pt. Townsend. We needed to host 30 people for the groom's dinner. There are not many places in town that can accommodate that large of a crowd. However Jason was willing to offer our group his entire front room for this event. Being from out of town everything was arranged through one phone call and text messages. Jason recommended a family style dinner with three entrees, 4 appetizers and two additional sides. The food was amazing, the service was delightful, everyone was comfortable and well fed. I can't recommend this restaurant enough for the wonderful experience it gave us and fond memories for the newlyweds. This was quite a place for a destination wedding and our flawless experience with Jason made it even better. My only wish is he owned another one in Minneapolis, then maybe he'd be a Vikings fan!
If all you care about is getting a lot of food, this is the place for you. If you care about quality and a pleasant atmosphere, go somewhere else.
