Used to eat here all the time when I was going to school, and always stop on my way through for the last many decades for the infamous cougar special. But it's been a few years since our last visit and this time, sadly it was very disappointing. No more cougar special (of the current burger was actually pretty good) and new french fries are awful. Huckleberry shakes are still in the menu but unavailable. Hope someday the place can cycle back around to the one I used to...
Expect to wait like 30 minutes in the drive-thru even if they're not busy. The food is really good. It'd be cool if they'd time it right instead of let the fries sit for 10 minutes while they finish the rest. So you get cold fries and hot burger and are already halfway done with your milkshake before you ever even got your food. Other than that though, this place is pretty good.
I've had them many times over the decades, but this was the first time after the ownership change. It was delicious then, and it's just as delicious now. I love how you can 'beast style' any burger. And the quality with the beef has improved, in my opinion. I get that some locals might need to get used to the change, but I bet most are happy that this iconic Drive-In is open for business, and slinging good grub...
