This is REAL Japanese food run by Japanese people with a Japanese chef. I have been searching for authentic and affordable Japanese comfort food for a while now and this is my new favorite restaurant in all of Seattle. I am half Japanese and grew up in Japan. This place filled a hole in my heart ❤️

Delicious and authentic food, lovingly prepared. Learned from the proprietor that New Zen has been around for 28 years! The experience is tangible in every bite. Don’t miss this gem of a spot!

Absolutely incredible!!! The owner is very friendly. She makes the rolls and were all so delicious! The sushi rice I could literally have a bowl of just this. The tea was delicious. Staff is very attentive! I had vegetable roll, the California roll and a hand roll of some kind that was perfect! Cannot wait to try more of the menu! Will definitely be back!
