Stopped by Abuelita’s Kitchen in Greenwood today with my daughter — we wanted handmade tortilla tacos.

We got shrimp, chicken, carne asada, and birria and loved everything. My favorites were the shrimp and carne asada.

The tacos are big — like one is basically two. The salsa bar is really good with a good variety of extremely spicy to no spice, and the tortillas and toppings taste fresh!

Also got arroz and frijoles...

Abuelita's quickly became one of our favorite restaurants in the city. Their quesabirria tacos are incredible! And I can't get enough of the chipotle salsa: rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of heat. At most places, fajitas are a safe bet that's usually pretty good but rarely great. Here they are truly excellent, with the marinade's flavor shining through brilliantly. And where else do you get fajitas served on large, homemade corn tortillas?...

Every time I have gone into Abuelita’s kitchen the staff goes above & beyond. As a Texan, my bar for Mexican food is high and this is one of the few places I keep coming back to!
