Looks like a hole-in-the-wall place and sorta is, but the food is super tasty, the hot sauce selection is genuinely appropriate, and the food is very authentic. Quite a good selection on the menu and some beer too.

Best Mexican food I’d had in Seattle! Can’t believe it took me this long to find this gem. I was so excited when I saw my carnitas I forgot to take photos… the salsa bar and the selection of hot sauces were ON POINT too!

One of the few places actually makes their carnitas not completely lean, and the mixture of fat/lean was so perfect that nothing was overwhelming. Even the side dishes it came with were delicious. the pickled pepper was refreshing and the beans actually had the perfect consistency (not overly thick or watery).

This will be my go-to for Mexican food for sure!!!! Can’t wait to come back and get the hot soup.

Had the Carnitas plate, how could I not. It was juicy and flavorful. Great beans and rice. The tomatillo salsa had the perfect kick. Try the chicharron con carne!

Food is no the worst but isn’t the best either. The place is dirty and the smells is terrible.

Loved the shrimp tostadas. Strikes a harmonious balance of sweet, salty, sour, umami, crunchy, soft. Chefs kiss

I took my wife here since the carnita tacos were so highly recommended. She's picky, but she was able to eat 3 and a birria taco. We've become regulars here now. They have an amazing salsa bar. The mural on the wall is beautiful and the price for hand made tortilla tacos feels justified. The only downside is the parking availability, I'd recommend taking the link and walk less than 5 minutes to the store.

Carnitas Michoacán is a hidden gem in Seattle that offers an incredibly authentic Mexican dining experience. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted not just by the mouthwatering aroma of traditional dishes, but by the warmth of a space that feels like home. I ordered the enchiladas potosinas, the tacos gobernador, and the shrimp tostadas—each one was packed with flavor, made with care, and brought back vivid memories of meals in Mexico.

There was no wait, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The service was friendly and attentive, and I was able to savor each dish at my own pace. But what truly sets Carnitas Michoacán apart is the incredible artwork that fills the space. The vibrant murals celebrating Mexican culture and heritage are breathtaking—every wall tells a story, every brushstroke speaks of pride, struggle, and beauty.

In a city like Seattle, it’s a gift to have spaces like this—places where migrants and the broader community can connect to the richness of Mexican culture. It’s more than a restaurant; it’s a cultural haven, a place where we can find comfort, familiarity, and identity through food and art. I can’t recommend Carnitas Michoacán enough—it’s truly a taste of home

Walking by this neighborhood and finding this place with high rating on the map. Its exterior looks meh but their food is beyond amazing! Super reasonable price with probably the most authentic Mexican food I find in town. Their homemade Caldo De Res is too good to miss! The Quesabirrias is delicious too.
