I met two friends from Tacoma and a friend from Port Townsend at Charlotte to celebrate two birthdays (I am a Seattle resident). The welcome at Charlotte was exquisite from the stools for handbags to the offer to hang coats to the surprise glasses of champagne. And the service was excellent - responsive and clear explanation of the menu, beautiful presentation - particularly of the soup which was "built" at the table. But the food just wow'd us. We ordered the beet...
The ambience was amazing and the food was good but I felt the portions were small and slightly overpriced. The service was just okay. We kept having to flag our waiter down to get service and order our food and drinks. The restaurant already added the service charge on our bill, which we didn't know. For how much our bill was, we expected better service and food.
Stopped by to have a coffee. Ordered a cortado. Ummm what I got was not a cortado, unfortunately. It was coffee with slightly warmed up milk in a cappuccino cup. But the server was cheerful :) and friendly and the bartender was very nice. I guess I paid for the view and friendliness.
