Chop Suey Reviews
My bestie and I drove from Vancouver to attend Saturday night for the Emo vs Pop-punk on July 26th. It was our first time at Chop Suey and we had a blast! The staff were super nice, everyone was friendly. We stood for the whole show but we were dancing and having a blast. I’m definitely coming back to visit! They have a nice seating area too if you get there early enough.
The only redeeming quality about this place is that there were other Swiftyyyys there on Swift fest night. Staff was rude, building is old and ugly, and drinks are over priced. They refused to let my friend in because she had an empty can with her that she was trying to find a trashcan for. They literally would not let her in, saying that she tried to bring it into the building. When she literally wasn't. She was
trying to find a trashcan. They wouldn't let her toss it. (She...read full review

Chop Suey offers a fun and welcoming environment, with multiple rooms to suit different vibes, including a dance floor. The decor is described as "funky and weird in the best kind of way," adding to the fun vibe. It is primarily a dance club with two bars, known as one of the most welcoming and inclusive places. The venue hosts a wide variety of musical events catering to many genres, creating a lively and diverse scene. Visitors mention the friendly staff, performers, and security, emphasizing the inclusive environment where intolerance and bigotry are not tolerated. The place also features interesting decor and amenities like a "zen den" for relaxing away from the crowd.
The venue is often loud with live music and a bar, where visitors can get drinks. Entry is cash-only, unless tickets are booked beforehand. The friendly bouncers and staff are kind and helpful. During event nights, there may be a live DJ, balloons, and cotton candy available. The bathrooms are generally clean but can get crowded as the night picks up. The crowd usually arrives around 10/10:30 PM, but the doors open at 9:00 PM. Free self-serve water is available at all times, and there is a photo booth and a small set of couches and chairs to lounge on. Occasional strobe lights and dim lighting can make navigation a challenge, and the place can be a bit dirty with sticky floors and rips and tears in the furniture, but that just adds to its character. The dance floor can get quite hot, so visitors are advised to dress lightly. Overall, Chop Suey remains a fun, diverse, and friendly spot that people are eager to return to.
