My recent dining experience at Communion in Seattle was nothing short of disappointing. From lackluster dishes to poor service, it fell far below expectations. Firstly, the gumbo was bland, lacking in flavor, and the seafood was overcooked, resulting in a less-than-pleasant texture. The Mac and cheese, while a classic favorite, was ruined by an excessive amount of smoky flavor. Even the cosmopolitan tasted more like watered-down Kool-Aid than a crafted beverage. To add to the disappointment, the service was subpar. Our waitress seemed disinterested and unfriendly, displaying an attitude that made us feel as though we should be grateful just to be dining there. Her lack of helpfulness only exacerbated our already tarnished experience. Overall, Communion failed to deliver on both the culinary and service fronts. For those seeking a memorable dining experience in Seattle, I would advise looking elsewhere.

Nyles helped us out tonight and made my birthday exceptionally memorable. Thank you so much. I appreciate all that you do and the sincerity of your heart!

We came here for our anniversary dinner after hearing all the hype around this restaurant and the James Beard award nomination. To begin, the service was very slow where no one came to our table for 15 minutes. We ignored that at this point because we were excited to try the restaurant and thought it maybe an off night. Then as we ordered food, our first two dishes were served over an hour and then our main was brought out after which an appetizer arrived. By now, we felt the dinner didn't really translate into a good experience. In terms of food, it was very average. The clams and sausage dish was very good but other than that all the other dishes were just average. We had the Hood sushi, clams, Chicken Berbere and Shrimp toast. All in all we were very disappointed and will not be returning. It's hard to understand why this place has so many critics raving about it because we've had much better food and experiences at other restaurants in Seattle.

The food was great but ther service was the worst I've ever experienced. I think we between waiting for a table, ordering, waiting, waiting, eating , and waiting for the check we were there over 3 hours. If they didn't like us that much you'd think they would get us out of there. Confusing

The food was bomb. My top picks were the chicken wings, shrimp toast, and Mac and cheese. Kolrahbi was also fantastic.

I truly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The only annoyance and it is minor. The bartender kept calling me and everyone. "My love." At first, it was cute and welcoming, but after the 3rd or 4th time. The phrase "lost its meaning. And just became filler words. Other than that, I will gladly return. This place was great ? ?

My husband and I have been trying to get reservations here for the last couple months, but the wait was well worth it! Walking in we were welcomed with a warm greeting and seated right away even though we were 20mins early for our reservation. Our server Niles was amazing! Very personable and friendly, gave us recommendations as it was our first time there and took our drink and appetizer order promptly. Drinks were delicious, I had the Maria Maria and my husband had the Purple(ish) drink. We had the shrimp toast and Po'Mi and they're were SO good! For our mains we had the berbere chicken, short ribs, and had the mac and cheese and collard greens as sides. All the food was flavorful and reminded us of home cooking. Special shout out to Jade who would appear just in time to take away our empty dishes and refill our glasses. The only con was that my husband was hit with a form of itis he's never experienced before! LOLThe food was amazing, but the service was even better. We will definitely be back!

The environment is the restaurant is like home, you feel welcome since you get to the door, the service was fenomenal and the recommendations were perfect for us, the bread pudding. The chicken was a little bit too spicy for my wife, but the rest of the food was amazing

Absolutely worth the hype. The food was outstanding (the only item we weren't totally blown away by was the Hood Sushi, but even that was pretty great) and we had warm, attentive service from Christina, and though we sat outside (under a heater) I walked through the restaurant to go to the bathroom and the space is SO beautiful. I can't wait to go back!

I’d been wanting to try this place for awhile and finally had the chance last weekend.Pros: I really enjoyed all the food we ordered (the Berbere Chicken, Scotch Eggs and brownies for dessert were my favorites). The Mac and Cheese and Collard Greens were also good, but not particularly unique. The Cherie Amour cocktail was creative and refreshing. The host was welcoming and friendly when we arrived. The atmosphere was fun and they had a great soundtrack playing.Cons: The service from our waitress Asia was unfortunately very poor. She was very cheerful and friendly when interacting with her coworkers and her demeanor completely changed to being borderline rude and impatient when she came by our table. Quite obvious that she shouldn’t be working in this type of job. Another negative aspect was the restaurant adding a 5% service charge to the bill for no reason (that doesn’t count towards the gratuity). This “extra fee” trend with Seattle restaurants is incredibly obnoxious and needs to stop. The menu prices are already expensive enough and it just feels scammy to charge even more when the bill arrives.Overall, I’d probably go back here for the food someday, but not until the service is improved and they drop the ridiculous surcharge.

Great, inspired dishes without seeming desperate. Down home goes up a few notches. Seasoned perfectly. Service was professional and timely. Host was earthy and sweet. Not cheap and not that it should be. Try the specialty drinks and "drank".? I genuinely think you will enjoy this. So, bring a party of six and enjoy some time at communion. We did.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this restaurant, which was made even more special by its diverse clientele and staff. The ambiance was tastefully decorated with arts for different places, setting a welcoming tone. Every dish boasted bold flavors, with the seasonings expertly crafted. If you don't like onions and garlic that's not the place for you. We had the scotch eggs they were delicious!Be mindful of portion sizes, as the fried chicken was particularly large, leaving little room to sample other dishes. This spot is ideal for big group outings with friends. The standout feature was the impeccable service, provided by a very friendly staff. The cocktails were ok. I wish we had some belly space for desserts, but the dishes are definitely big.

Weird vibe. The service wasn’t that bad but i didn’t feel welcome.Being sat at a group table with a bunch of strangers listening in to my brunch conversation with my partner was an unpleasant experience.Decent food, I enjoyed some of the creative flavors.

We had Lousianna bbq shrimp (whole, peel and eat with head). Root veggie fritters in Trinidad Curry (i swear it was akin to an amazing donut). A fried catfish banh mi. Yum. Seafood gumbo with a quarter dungeness crab. And the most delectable, fried bread pudding. I had to roll outta there.?The service was great.
