In short, I will go to Din Tai Fung next time for sure.
The signature pan-fried pork buns were very disappointing and tasted like frozen food.
The service was also poor — there was no check on us and no water refill throughout the meal.
When I asked to have my unfinished food packed to go, I was given a box and a bag to pack it myself. What the…
This was the worst restaurant service I’ve experienced in the U.S.

We ordered basically everything on the menu here. Most of it was very good
I should separate these into sections to keep track of everything, since it was a lot
Starting with appetizers. I absolutely loved the green onion pancake. As advertised, the dough was super flaky, and the outside was a oily golden brown. It's a bit like if you pan fried a tortilla cut into triangles briefly, but the outside was really flaky. This was very addicting - I could've had so many of them. I also enjoyed the beef pancake roll as well
For the vegetables, the sweet and sour cucumber had its namesake sauce do a ton of heavy lifting. I normally don't like cucumbers, but this actually tasted good. I didn't like the broccoli as much as it was pretty tough.
The dan dan noodles were phenomenal. While not very spicy, the chewy nature of the noodles was on point - they were cooked just a bit beyond what would normally consider as a doneness level for noodles, but not too hard to chew or anything. This texture was great. I wish it came with protein as an add-on. However, the Ma La noodles were too soft and not spicy either. I didn't like the latter
The Q-Bao was interesting. I thought the dough on the outside was a little too chewy, but the pork filling was nice
I really liked the wontons. On these, you really felt the softness of the dough and it basically gave at the slightest bite. These were small enough that it was easy to dip and comfortable to finish in a single bite.
The soup dumplings are ok. There was nothing special about them.
My favorite item here though has to be the potstickers. These are pan-fried so well - the color is a deep brown and have enough oil without it being excessive. The crispy edges add much needed texture with the crunch, and the dough here is the perfect level of thickness. The fillings are fantastic here as well.
Pretty much all the items here are around 10 dollars. Since everything is family-style shared, you can try a lot of things, which we ended up doing. The portion sizes for individual items are pretty small though.
Comparing this to a very similar spot in Din Tai Fung, I find myself preferring Dough Zone. While the atmosphere is better at DTF, and their Xiao Long Bao are superior as well, most of the other food items are better here, and the price is also a good bit cheaper. If you're not going specifically for a fancy dinner, I would recommend Dough Zone.
Overall, the variety, quality, and price are certainly there to make this a restaurant I would love to come back to. 8.75/10

I tried several dishes here and they were absolutely delicious. The dishes average out at about $8 an item and you’ll want at least two of them for maximum enjoyment.

Green onion pancake had a good green onion taste and crispy exterior. Wish Dan Dan noodle had a bit more sauce but had a nice spice and heat to it. Noodles were al dente.

I lovef the Dan Dan Noodles and the onion pancakes. The sweet and sour cucumbers were great too, but the portion was huge. Since I was dining alone, the second cucumber coil went to waste. Surprisingly, the vegetable potstickers were kind of meh. I probably wouldn't order those again, but instead get a double order of the pancakes!
All of the food is labeled, so I didn't have to guess what was vegetarian. They also asked every diner about allergies before turning in their order!
I arrived at about 4:30 on valentines day and they seated me right away without a reservation. When I left, there were probably 20 people waiting to sit.

I love this chain❤️ The beef pancake was a bit too salty (first time trying so idk if it’s just today), but the Dan Dan noodles were divine as usual😋Nice people working there🥰 Wanted to compliment one of the guys on his blue anime style hair but got too shy🤭

Used to be great but you can feel all the chain growth they’ve pursued now means microwaved dishes and a fast food atmosphere.

Had a wonderful dinner of dumplings and noodles here tonight! Our food came out very quickly and everything was really fresh and flavorful. We did have a bit of a wait to get seated but nothing too crazy. Overall I highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning!
