I am a born and raised Ethiopian(21 years). The food ona great day was a 6.5/10 being very honest. But for Seattle's Ethiopian food standard scene ,a 7.5/10 is the best you'll ever get (Zagol and Shewaber). You might not know but, Ethiopian food is catagorized as Vegan and Non-Fasting (meat/dairy) interms of taste profile. The vegan food here was very mediocre. I dined here almost a dozen times. The non-fasting food, is a 6.5/10 too. The vegan dishes are harder to make because they don't have animal fats so they have to be fresh. Which I don't blame them. I had better Veggie dishes at Shewa Ber Restaurant (Shiro, Misir, Firfir) so give that a go as well (7/10).
They tend to overcook the meat and underseason the Ethiopian spices.
I recommend the Awaze Tibs, Kitfo(Medium Rare) and Doro for beginners. But the veggies, you should skip them.
The best Ethiopian food is unfortunately in Wa. DC, Atlanta and Texas cities, They tend to use fresher herbs and spics from Ethiopia. They even import authentic Ethiopian made Injera in DC. All the injera, sold in Seattle commercially is mixed with some barley/ maize or rice flour. So it might get you a little bloated.
It's a notorious thing here among the Habesha community for dealing with Injera that gets you bloated. 😅Trust me, Injera is one of the most difficult things to get right chemically. Compromises have to be made compared to authentic Ethiopian Injera. So it's not unique to this restaurant, it's like comparing it to the .. meh BBQ scene of Seattle.

cozy place with large portions and tasty food. enat combo was good and so were the sambusas
Very affordable and delicious family restaurant despite Derrick G.’s hyperbolic, xenophobic review below. I’ve been coming here for years and the ingredients are always fresh including the side salads, which is a smaller and understated component that people overlook when it comes to quality and freshness. If you come here looking for a yummy meal, you will quickly see the care that goes into their food and that nothing is rotting. The vegetarian combo is great for veggie lovers (omg the red lentils and potatoes!!) The aunties here are always very kind, they treat you like family here.

I’ve been coming to Enat since I was a kid - nearly 25 years now and it truly feels like home. Hands down, this is one of the best Ethiopian restaurant in Seattle. The flavors are vibrant, comforting, and consistently incredible, and not to mention generous portion sizes. The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming, which makes every visit even more special.

Food is good, but at 26 bucks an entree before tax and tip it is overpriced. Sadly, we won't be back.

The food tasted disgusting. They reminded me of some rotten meat hanging out the side of a truck riding down the freeway on 111° day. Ordered lamb tibs, it came out it was hot and steamy and stunk up the entire restaurant, then i tasted it and it tasted like the meat was rotten. it was gross. No silverware or anything to use as utensils like eating, they make you eat with your bare hands which is a part of their ethnic background, but this is not 2000BC, it doesn't make sense. The quality of the food was lacking, overpriced for what was served, seemed like a plate full of canned food heated up in a microwave, then brought out on a platter to seem like its premium, but it was canned food at best. i would not recommend this place to anyone.
