Comfort food at a high price point. I have came here a few times and have noticed a steady increase in prices at an uncomfortable rate. I don’t feel comfortable paying $23 for zaru soba and tempura that’s the same quality I could make at home. I like the cream sodas too but I also don’t feel comfortable paying $8.50 for one…

Home style Japanese diner, conveniently located near the International District/Chinatown station, which is about 5-10 minutes away. We came to this place due to the high reviews but was quite disappointed with our experience. The good: friendly staff, attentive service, food was served quickly. The bad: pricy, below average food quality, outdated decor. The Gyutan ($19, 8 PCs) was the worst I have ever had. They were salty, overcooked, and way too thick, which made them like rubber and extremely hard to chew. The Omurice ($18) was overpowered by ketchup, as that's the only thing I could taste and for $18 dollar I would expect the portion to be larger. Lastly, the spicy karage curry has a weird sour taste to it. The chicken was pretty spicy, but also pretty sour probably due to overdose of lemon/lime juice during marinating. Overall, we left disappointed and probably won't come back again.

Host tipped himself 30% without my consent.

The male closing host with glasses tipped himself 30% on my bill without asking or informing me. This was deliberate — not a system error or misunderstanding. I’ve been a loyal customer for years and brought a longtime friend for drinks, only to be ripped off by someone who decided to treat himself on my dime.

I had to explain the situation to the bartender, who had been great all night and had no idea it happened. I own many restaurants and this is bottom barrel scum behavior of unauthorized charge is completely unacceptable and illegal. Management needs to fire this host — immediately.

The money spent is peanuts but I’m dumbfounded by his action. Definitely the first for me.

Will delete this review upon my next visit in hope of change in management.

This place has a special place in my heart - my family used to come here all the time for the fried chicken and spaghetti. Cozy down home westernized Japanese food. Love the second story location

This is what you call a hidden gem! IFYKY. Truly it has one of my favorite Japanese bar food, but the best thing here which was the most surprising is the Japanese spaghetti. Just think homemade from Mom right straight from her kitchen. I've been going here for the last couple years and it never misses. I absolutely adore this place. And the service is so lovely! Everyone here is just exceptionally sweet and kind. Its a spot you should bring a friend and share an app + spaghetti. Don't hate on it unless you tried it! The Japanese Kewpie mayo on spaghetti is insanely good.

The vibes in this place have always been immaculate; not bougie, not sketchy, a perfect middle balance that I would call "absolutely comfortable". The food is always amazing, the location rules, idk this place just does not effin miss.

Surprisingly great place for a happy hour. Food can be great if you get the right things - i.e., the curry and baked / spaghetti options.
