Back in the day before West Seattle had so many restaurants, JaKs was the place to be. Sadly, it has gone so far down hill. Last weekend we went in and sat at the bar. Watched a bartender drop a champagne stopper that went under the coolers and without so much as a rinse off, put it back on the bottle. I had the Caesar salad, ok but no green leafs and was swimming in dressing. Partner had chicken sandwich. Was luke warm, topped with a mealy, old tomato and cold fries. Steak house prices for sub par pub food. Been going here 30 years, this was the last time.

Great steak house and fantastic happy hour. Best cheeseburgers and add the bacon makes a great dinner and if you get there for happy hour definitely worth the effort. Great staff and good atmosphere. Throughly recommend the restaurant. Never had a bad meal and I've eaten there a lot.
Visited Jak’s on California Ave / West Seattle last Friday. The most tender calamari appetizer I’ve ever eaten. Truly. Had the NY Steak, Brussels sprouts, loaded baked potato, and a couple martini’s to wash it down. Excellent meal, nicely priced compared to most noteworthy steakhouses. Live this place. Can’t wait to go back.

Prefer more intimate table for 25th wedding anniversary.Parking: Street or paid that is free evenings and weekend. Behind the building, easy walk with stairs. Pay station broken so free!!Kid-friendliness: Adult atmosphere but a well behaved teen no problem! Maybe not small children.
It was a belated birthday celebration that took myself, my sister, and our cousin to Jak's. We were mildly disappointed by the brunch menu as our appetites were anticipating steak and baked potatoes with all the trimmings. Never fear, our server outlined options where we could have a meal very close to the one in our dreams. The steak and eggs could become steak and something else. The baked potato could be lusciously substituted for with potato pancakes or a choice of fries. And so it was - a delicious meal deliver as we wanted. Truly yummy. I only have steak 3-4 times a year, and so I yearn for a sizzling, flavorful piece of meat cooked just right. We all got our preferences, plus birthday-suitable desserts, which topped off a stellar meal.

My Physical Therapist had recommended Jak's Grill for steaks. My daughter and I decided to give it a try. From the moment we stepped it and were seated. It was entirely enjoyable. the server was very pleasant and helpful with our menu selections. I was more than delighted with my steak and potato. I have eaten at numerous over the past several years and what I ate at Jak's was the best I have had had in many years. I am looking forward to many more visits to Jak's Grill.
We had my Husbands retirement party at JAK's. This was the first time we had been to the West Seattle restaurant. WOW! what a fantastic diner. The service was stellar, everything was done in a timely fashion, so polite, helpful and willing to take excellent care of us. The food was exceptional, cooked to our liking, the caesar salad was perfect and I loved those sweet potatoes fries. We definitely will return soon. Thank you JAK's for a great evening.

The food was amazing! The service was very good as well, our waiter was patient attentive and friendly. The environment was open but intimate. We sat on the upper floor and enjoyed the view.

Was hoping for intimate table for 2 for 25th Anniv. Originally sat upstairs at a 4 top next to to larger parties. Moved us downstairs , better but still next to a 4 top. Crab cakes had too much shell but taste great Steak great Cheesecake lumpy and strange Bread pudding on point Overall food good just hoped for intimate booth table for the occasion.
