My expectations were shattered. They put us at a table near the table that smelled of something rotten. We asked to be reseated. There was only a seat behind the bar. The cocktails were not very tasty. But the biggest disappointment was when the food arrived. I am very disappointed with this place. This pasta just shocked me.

[EDIT TO ANSWER QUESTIONS FROM OWNER Visited on Sept 28th, 2024. No, the manager didn't come to talk to us. The waitress was a young lady with light colored hair and tattoos that was serving the tables in the area where the bar is located]
I had a mixed experience here. The food was good, but one server was extremely unprofessional.
As soon as we sat down, our waitress warned us that the chef liked to receive all your order at once rather than ordering as needed (this is absolutely the opposite of an izakaya as I have experienced in Japan where you order small plates as you want, but ok, we decided to still give it a try). Then as we waited for our food, a person sat right next to us profusely coughing and sneezing, clearly very sick. Not wanting to make a scene, I waited away from our table to discretely ask our waitress to be moved to a different table, but rather than trying to accommodate us, the waitress looked at me as if I was an imbecile and told me "what do you mean she's sick" then told me she would give me and my wife a mask (a mask while having dinner, really!). I declined and asked to be seated at the bar instead, at which point the waitress walked away clearly upset and eventually showed us to the bar and left briskly without even saying goodbye.
Once we moved to the bar, the food was good (the AUBERGINE DENGAKU was delicious !) and the service was friendly and efficient (the two ladies at the bar were lovely and extremely attentive!), but dealing with the rude waitress soured the experience.
So overall, good food and generally good service, but that one waitress really needs to get off her high horse and learn to treat her patrons with respect. Although the food is good, I would not go back to this place as there are many other local alternatives with equal or best food quality and certainly more professional service.

Beautiful food with fantastic service and a comfy, very cool atmosphere. We enjoyed the Crying Tiger Tataki, the Spicy "California" Poke Bowl, the Lomo Salta-don, the Teriyaki Burger (available during Happy Hour), and the Sticky Toffee Mochi. Everything was flawless and we left full and happy. We will be back soon!

What a great discovery, came all the way from Vancouver and I was not disappointed! Food and service were immaculate, but shout out to Alan at the bar :)
When you're here, you're familia. Never have I felt as a Hawaiian transplant more seen and heard for my food needs. The bar staff is phenomenal and the food rotates with too many delicious options to choose from. Please treat these servers with the respect they deserve as they have to turn tables and listen to the requests of their guests. You have questions? They've got answers. The scotch egg is rich and filling and the B57 cocktail is a perfect balance of salty sweet. Thank you for an absolutely life changing time
