Got seated very fast but no one came by our table to take our order. Ended up leaving since we weren’t able to order and the host just smiled as we were leaving and said goodbye. Quite unfortunate that this is the type of service offered here.

Love the atmosphere of Life on Mars. Since it's a bar it can get loud at times in the evening, so if that's not your thing maybe not the place for you. The menu isn't huge but anything I have has here has been solid. The cocktails are great and they have mocktail options too which is nice. I feel its best for smaller groups as once we reserved for a larger group of about 10-12 and got given a bunch of small round tables in a row. This arrangement wasn't very comfortable and when food came it was a struggle to fit everything. When I've gone with groups of 3-6 it's been a lot better experience. Life on mars is a great bar if you have a few friends with money to spare and want a place with good ambience to sit down and sip on a drink and talk. Not the greatest place if you want to party or drink a lot because drinks here are quite expensive. Their cocktails and drink selection is pretty vast though, and service is very good.

We hosted our GPIS social event at Life on Mars, and it was absolutely outstanding. The vibe, the music, the energy… all on point. But what truly made the night unforgettable were the craft cocktails and the phenomenal service from Anna and Maddie.
I have to give a major shout-out to Anna, because her customer service was honestly flawless. She didn’t just take care of us… she elevated the entire evening. She remembered every single guest by name, knew what everyone was drinking, and somehow managed to anticipate what we needed before we even asked. It’s rare to find someone who can juggle a full room with that level of attention and grace, but she did it effortlessly. Anna was an absolute superstar from start to finish.
Her cocktail recommendations were spot-on too. She convinced me to try the bourbon espresso martini, and I swear—it was one of the best drinks I’ve had in years. Smooth, bold, not too sweet, just perfect. Our whole group was raving about it.
And Maddie brought a fun, warm, upbeat energy… very attentive, friendly, and genuinely great at what she does.
Life on Mars is already one of Capitol Hill’s best spots, but Anna and Maddie took our event from great to unforgettable. If you’re hosting—or even just grabbing a drink—this is the team you want taking care of you.
Highly recommend, without hesitation!
WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!!!

Great vibes and really good vegan food! My only complaint is they aren’t on any delivery service and you have to call in to place a to-go order. Really wish there was order ahead for pick up on their website!! Updated from previous review on 2025-11-22
Life on Mars is awesome! Really fun setting and the best staff, everyone is super friendly.
The food is amazing. I think they have the best cauliflower wings in Seattle and I love how they have multiple varieties to choose from. Their main dishes for dinner rotate and there’s always something new and interesting to try. We loved the smash burger and the pot pie - perfect for those dark early winter nights!
Their drink menu is extensive and has really thoughtful non-alcoholic options. You won’t be forced to just buy a soda here (unless you want!). They have really elevated NA cocktails and I even spotted that you can do their beer and a shot with NA beer and a NA spirit. This is so fun and inclusive, I love the idea that you could partake with friends if everyone was getting a beer and a shot.
As I’m sure others have noted in the reviews, you can expect to pay a bit here. Seattle dining out prices in general are very high, and Life on Mars is in a very popular high-rent area. I do feel the value you get here is very good - the food and drink quality is great so you at least will feel good leaving that you’re satisfied with the experience.
Also I love the bathrooms - each with its own music and theme. Which will you get?

Reply to ‘owner’: the issue here is that no up charge was discussed and I found this on my receipt at home so the whole ‘hiding behind a screen’ is a false accusation. If you had stated that hard water was $2 I would have just gone without.
Was gonna leave a great review about this place then I noticed on my receipt that I got charged two dollars for a large rock/cube. Are you kidding me??? For hard water in a square??? Glad I didn’t ask for lime.
Went here for a party. The food and drinks are about as expensive as you'd expect for a place in one of the new Capitol Hill buildings, but the quality (so far) compares somewhat unfavorably with a No Bones or Highline. I've been waiting a while to finally have an aquafaba flip, so I'm happy that's finally come to Seattle. Everything came out very fast for a busy night. Staff was friendly, though somewhat hard to get a hold of. That was true a few years ago and it's still true--I avoid this place on weekend nights especially. It's possible to grab a seat at the bar and feel like you've been totally forgotten. Updated from previous review on 2025-10-24

Went in for happy hour today with my boyfriend and stood at the “please wait to be seated” sign right in front of two bartenders who pretended not to see us for about three minutes before anyone greeted us. Finally one says “be right with you” kind of dismissively and then looks up another minute later and like.. sassily asked “have you made a decision yet? Do you need a table..?” We said “just the bar please” and she set down two menus and two glasses with a water bottle and we didn’t see them for another five minutes or so. There were only two other people at the bar and one other table seated. Nobody smiled or even said hi the whole time so we just headed out. Maybe we’ll try another night with different staff.

Very flavorful with so many choices. If I lived here I would be back every week.
The cocktails are great, the vibe is good. Dark Entries is my favorite. Only thing take one star away is that every tab has 5% service charge, which you can overlook if you don’t pay attention, staff can inform customer before sign.

Everything was so good. I used to be vegan, so I'm probably biased, but I didn't know this place was vegan until the next day. Their happy hour is great, love the vibe, and they make an excellent old fashioned
