The food is what you are coming here for, it’s tasty, thoughtful, and executed very well and quickly. The cocktails and beverage program is as strong as to be expected at a fine dining establishment. Unfortunately the service was really poor. The birthday we were celebrating was never mentioned, and we overheard the couple next to us had their anniversary forgotten as well.

There’s a fine line between confidence and hubris in restaurant pricing, and Little Beast in Ballard teeters squarely on it. Dining as a group of four, we were met with food that was, at best, competent. The steak — priced at an astonishing $160 — arrived drenched in what seemed to be a red-wine reduction, though it could just as easily have been any dark, glossy sauce. Whatever its composition, it smothered rather than complemented the meat.
