About Lunch on the Plate

Lunch on the Plate is an authentic Taiwanese restaurant, operating as both a food truck and permanent locations in a food hall and at a market. It is a family-owned business that serves flavorful and well-balanced Taiwanese bentos. The food is freshly made, reminds customers of Taiwan and home, and is described as heaven-sent.

The portions are generous, big, and perfect, leaving customers extremely full. The plating is authentic, exactly as served in Taiwan, typically including rice, meat, a half boiled egg, and vegetables. Specific recommended dishes include the crispy quarter chicken leg bento, the slow braised beef flank bento, and the fried pork chop bento. The crispy chicken leg quarter is a favorite, noted for being perfectly crispy with a delicious sauce. Other praised items are the pepper chicken, the pork feet with bamboo shoot, the braised tofu, the braised dice pork belly, and a vegetarian tofu dish.

The food truck is located in South Lake Union, in front of a hotel, ideal for weekday lunch. Customers can order at a kiosk, order ahead online, or order online to avoid a long wait. It is primarily a takeout spot but has nearby tables. The price is reasonable, the service is friendly, and customers are highly recommended to try it and will definitely go back again.

The bento had a killer sauce but I kind of expected pork belly slices and not bits. The pork chop was nicely fried so it was crispy and not oily.

The fried chicken really stood out for me. Ever since my favorite neighborhood ramen shop closed,...read full review

great food at a fair price. friendly professional staff. I ate it too fast! I had the pork chop which was better than most tonkatsu in Seattle. get the $3 side order of pork belly sauce to enhance your bento or rice.
