The food is great, but they are so disorganized. I waited 45 minutes for a coffee and breakfast sandwich.

I have been a loyal customer of macrina for years, but I think this will be my last day coming. I am writing this as a worker of the food industry and barista myself. The workers are unbelievably rude and standoffish everytime I go. I feel like an idiot everytime I ask a question. They are constantly out of dishes and refuse to heat up my items. They do not care about there customers, and make it very clear. They glare you down as they check you out, and react according to the tip. If I do not tip, they will not even look at me. Super upsetting, you will be losing my service.

Great place for a small bite - they have a HUGE range of options, that your biggest problem is going to be making a choice. We got a blueberry scone and a savory swirl which were both delicious. Not a fan of their cappuccino or the mocha however.. this is also a good place to get a bit of work done too, even though it gets crowded, it doesn’t get loud. The wait for coffee does get quite long (we waited 15mins) on the weekend.Parking: A few spots in a lot right outside the bakery, but otherwise everything is street parking

Needs a cleanup. We visited at 4:20. We were told that we could have our orders only "to go", that is in paper bags, not on plates, because it was almost closing time and "dishes pile up". Fine, it makes no difference. What would have made a difference would have been a cleaner floor. I hope at the end of the day they will let a few birds in to feed on all the crumbs. It just feels like one of those snotty places that think they are doing you a favor by letting you in, and don't need to pay attention to the details.

I get my daily bread and cappuccino here. I've heard they accept EBT for bread, but they do expect tips for every transaction. Which is taxing in its own right.

The coffee there is fantastic, but the service could use some work. One particular staff member was quite rude. Despite us arriving an hour and 20 minutes before closing, she didn't want to serve us our coffee in mugs.. she had an attitude.

Food is good. Service could be improved. The cashier looked like he hated it there. Didn’t smile, didn’t say thank you.

Staff is just unbelievably consistently arrogant, rude and ruins experience in this place every time. There are not so many alternatives in the neighbourhood, but service is not getting better, only

A really nice spot with parking( much needed in capitol hill). Excellent spot to work or meet up with a friend to catch up over coffee. I like that they have half and full price lunch sandwiches and are not overpriced. They do run out of some of the sandwiches around 2 pm though. A good number of vegetarian options makes this even better. What stood out and earned that 5th star was the high quality service from every single staff member there this evening. Saw a couple of single ladies come in with a book and grab a sandwich and coffee to sit and read for a bit, some folks just meeting up for a chat or just working on laptops. Every single person was greeted politely, not rushed and the staff were chatting to each other in between and it was clear they all got along well- excellent positive vibe in this place. Nice community bench seating and a few sofas as well. Coffee was on point- go an oatmilk mocha and a slice of their chocolate orange cake. The cake was ok- seemed a day old or so. But they are known for their breads, so i would settle for my forst choice of the verdura sandwich which was unfortunately sold out. I spent about 3 hours catching up with a friend, where we were the last to leave and were cery gently nudged- but they were so unobtrusive though we clearly overstayed . Appreciate that and would be back cos of the good atmosphere, solid coffee and lots of food options.
