Maneki Restaurant Reviews
One of my favorite Japanese restaurants (not to mention the oldest in Seattle) and it has never disappointed me. The food is delicious and the service is friendly and warm. It’s a difficult time we are in with the pandemic of 2020, but Maneki has transitioned to take out, which it never did before, and is so organized that it blew my mind when I saw how clearly labeled each item was when I got home. Maneki Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with its cute tatami room, homey atmosphere, and friendly service. Known as one of the oldest Japanese restaurants in Seattle, it provides a unique and authentic vibe that feels like a warm hug from the past. The menu boasts a wide variety of Japanese dishes at reasonable prices, with generous portions that taste homemade. Standout dishes include the black cod collar, which is praised for its miso preparation, and the handmade gyozas, which are an absolute must-try. Guests can also enjoy the unagi don, beef sukiyaki, and the sashimi platter, which is incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. The chicken kuwayaki in the variety ozen has received positive feedback as well. While some have noted that the tempura can be soggy and lacking in flavor, the overall food quality remains high. The restaurant features a good selection of Japanese beers, and the service is efficient and lovely; staff like Gina are fast, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, ensuring guests have an incredible experience. Maneki Restaurant is a must-visit for a delicious and affordable dinner, offering an experience that is truly special. Reservations are highly recommended to enjoy the traditional tatami room setting.
