We found this tea house by accident when we were strolling down Japan Town. It's a historic building half museum with lots of old interesting japanese items, dolls and pictures from the early days of Japanese settlers in Seattle. We didn't try the various tea and goodies that they have ( next time we will!) and if you go further to the far end of the shop there were stairs going down to another space with seats and more old stuff including two pianos. I love the Panama Hotel. It is beautiful , unique and a real refuge for sincere and interesting people. I do wish it was easier to get in and out of the building during a stay. I certainly respect the prioritization of safety and comfort, but a customized key code or something equivalent for paying guests would be really appreciated. This review is about the hotel. It's an awesome opportunity to stay at a museum with a long and painful history. The owners truly care to preserve the history and spread the story of this building and Japantown. To stay here you should be a mindful person; the floors creak, the walls are thin, the bathrooms are shared with the floor etc. I very much enjoyed my stay. The location was perfect for my stay.
