Portage Bay Cafe in Ballard Reviews
Disgusting behavior by staff. Harassing a man on a public sidewalk while filming. He said not one word to these disgusting humans but they just couldn’t help themselves to criticize & belittle him. POS staff.
Terrible food, terrible service. The staff are extremely rude. I will never eat here again.
Employees harassing a mute man that was filing while I was trying to eat. Man did nothing name the employees kept escalating the situation. Someone told me the man posted a video of the employees harassing him. He had right to do what he was doing. I am visiting America and I thought there were rights but I was wrong. Employee that was pushing him should be fired and and charged with the assault.

Portage Bay Cafe in Ballard offers a lively dining experience with a light and airy interior that gives a cafeteria vibe. The food is consistently excellent, with options like gluten-free Lemon-Ricotta pancakes and a variety of sweet and savory brunch dishes. The smoked salmon Benedict is a standout, featuring buttery lox, decadent hollandaise, and a house-made English muffin. Portions are small but high quality, and the food always meets expectations. Despite being a busy spot, the cafe remains a favorite for many years.
The atmosphere is energetic, and the staff is generally responsive and accommodating, even during peak times such as holiday brunches. Servers often move swiftly through the bustling space, refilling coffee efficiently and providing good suggestions after the meal. The restaurant can be loud, especially on weekends, but the overall experience is worth the wait for great food. Some minor issues with bussing staff making noise by dropping plates can be noticed, but setting plates down gently would improve the experience. Overall, Portage Bay remains a popular destination for brunch lovers seeking delicious food and a vibrant environment.
