Dined at Purple Cafe Seattle location on Sunday Nov. 2, 2025. Their Classic Caesar Salad is excellent & well priced for the serving size. One of the best in Seattle! The Braised Short Rib Pappardell are tasty, however, the short rib meat is of minor proportion & does not warrant $37 a serving plus a $5 service fee. An additional point to note is the service. The hostess was overwhelmed with the flex a diners. Management should be on top of local events. The 5th Avenue Theater, one block away, had two performances and the line of diners was out the door. I do wonder what our server really wants to do in life. Her attention was limited and rushed.
Thursday night in downtown Seattle during Restaurant Week was a blast at the Purple Cafe and Wine Bar. The place was hopping! We didn't see an empty table/seat when we entered. I'm not sure if it was the norm or if there were conferences in town. Anyway, the place was full of energy. Purple is a large space with a very high sealing and an impressive spiraling staircase enclosing many bottles of wine. One word, impressive! To think after all of these years in the Seattle area this was our first visit to this establishment. We decided to try the Restaurant Week menu and added a half dozen Blue Pool Oysters to our food order. Folks, the Blue Pool Oysters were happening, flavorful and beautiful to behold! The appetizers we ordered included Arancini ALllla Vodka (local mushroom, fresh mozzarella, basil, parmigiano-reggiano in a rich tomato based sauce) and Roasted Delicata (spice-roasted squash, confit leek, apple balsamic, hazelnut). The nutty flavor of the squash was satisfying. Next up were the entrees. We chose the Pan-seared Steelhead which included wild mushroom dashi, chanterelle, roasted salsify, and bonito, and the Thai Noodle Salad with mango, linguine, cabbage, bell pepper, and roasted peanut vinaigrette which was refreshing. The Steelhead dish was a pleasure to eat, moist and expertly seared with the mushroom and sauce being a welcomed addition. For dessert we went with the Blueberry Creme Brulee (hardened blueberry caramelized sugar top layer with a very rich custard base) and the Lemon Sherbet (two tart and tangy scoops), both were delicious. This was a nice experience, the restaurant was buzzing, the service was attentive, and the food delicious. We will return!
When I am in the City I like to take my daughter to Purple and it was her Birthday lunch. The food was great, the value fair but as always the restaurant is COLD! I had to slip my jacket on and looked around and many of the diners had their coats on as well. Not good. Also, was kind of expecting the waiter to ask me if I wanted to do anything special for her Bday when I told him it was her Bday lunch yesterday.
Sommelier was great, he recommend a delicious poully fumรฉ which was amazing. disappointed that there was no Vinho Verde in the Portugal section. I ordered a turkey provolone and arugula and manchego salad (lunch combo). It was good, didn't realize the sandwich had bacon on it ๐. Large portions.

There are very few restaurants in Seattle that make me want to come back again and again โ but Purple does that every single time (this was my third visit!). The food is impeccable, but what truly sets it apart is the service. Tonight, Alfonso, Alejandro, and Geoff made the evening memorable, fun, and personal with their attention to detail, kindness, and genuine excitement for the new menu items, Restaurant Week specials, and cocktail list.
Purple might be known for its wine, but trust me โ when you go (and it should be when, not if), the food and service are just as exceptional.
Everything we had tonight was delicious, but if I had to choose the standouts they'd be the Thai Noodle Salad, Baked Brie and Arancini - oh and the caramels are back!!!!!!!

We enjoyed our dinner and wine. The food was delicious and the choices of wines were wonderful. Our server was friendly, interactive and helpful. However, we did not appreciate the 5% service charge included on our bill. Annoyed that the tip choices started at 20%!. I know that we could have done a customize tip, but to start at 20% for 3 people. Visiting so not sure if this is standard throughout Seattle.
The service and food was terrific. The main problem I have with this restaurant is that it is so dark at night that one is unable to read the menu or see the food on your plate without using the flashlight on one's telephone.
Purple was such a delight! Everything was delicious, starting with the purple salad and lamb skewers. The lamb was my favorite dish and the flavors were spot on. For entrees we had salmon and vodka pasta. Very tasty. Dessert was sticky chocolate which was to die for. We paired it all with bubbles and blaufrankisch. Thank you for such a nice experience guys!

Love the menu here. Service varies. Generally quite good. Dine her frequently as we subscribe to the 5th Ave and it's close. we always allow about 2 hours for dinner. Have never had luck having a server who knew anything about the prix fix meal for theatre goers. Although we always say we are headed to the 5th and give a time, one server didn't bring dessert till we were putting on our coats to leave. Didn't have time for dessert or to ask that it should be removed from bill. Some servers go by your table a dozen times but don't make eye contact so you need to catch them or someone else to order and/or for the check. The food is what brings us back.
The staff was great and made us feel really special for a big family dinner. Unfortunately the dish I got (the short rib paparadelle) was quite under seasoned despite being so rich and fatty. I tasted a couple other dishes from around the table and thought they were quite nice so I think the sauce on the short rib pasta was just not there today. Hopefully things will be better next time.

Tasty cocktails and HUGE wine menu. The food was really good and enough variety for all dietary restrictions. The service was friendly and efficient, and the restaurant itself was pretty.
Wine was great. Atmosphere good. Staff friendly. The Brie and Dates were delicious. The chicken salad was REALLY gross though. One of the worst dishes I've had. Looked like canned chicken mixed with celery and was not appetizing. Should def be taken off the menu.
