Kinda crazy. The soup was served w/out a spoon. Then when it did arrive it was definitely not a soup spoon. The wait staff in general seem to to waiting on everybody and nobody, dashing about and forgetting to bring items. The table we had rocked back and forth. The window gave a very chilly stream of air. My companion had looked forward to going to this restaurant for years because he heard it was quite authentic, but was disappointed. I would POST PHOTOS, but Google has NO link on this review to do so... ?

What is wrong with this place? I made reservations weeks ago and asked for a nice window table for my fiance's birthday (on a Saturday night in late February), and they gave us the worst spot in the house (at 5pm). Have fun eating your romantic dinner in the storage area, where there's a weird smell. We laughed it off that they were busy and ate our overpriced food and drank our short-pour 3oz vino glasses. As we were leaving, we saw three open tables right in the windows. Were these reserved for the Ballard elites, or what? You turned and burned us in one hour. Boo!

Note: I left a bunch of other positive reviews on local places to combat the negative energy of this place. AVOID this spot unless you are a regular, apparently.

We were able to get seated on a Monday night without a reservation, yet there were still a lot of patrons. The service was excellent and the food even better. We tried the butternut squash fritters, pear salad, butternut squash risotto and the angel hair pasta. It was all delicious! One of us is vegetarian and they had some good looking options and were quick to accommodate some other dishes. They even asked about food allergies. The cocktails were superb. The atomistic cozy with candlelit tables and feels very European. I highly recommend this place for a celebration or a romantic date. I’ve also visited their coffee shop during the day. They have delicious pastries and good coffee! As far as I could see, parking is on the neighborhood streets but was not a problem. Go check it out, you won’t be disappointed!

Vegetarian options: They gladly accommodate whatever dishes they can for vegetarians.

Wheelchair accessibility: There was a patron in a wheelchair who was able to exit through the front door not open to the general public. She was able to exit with ease.

The pizza was something else. There was even an old lady playing the accordion to serenade us it was so cute! Also, the caprese salad was smaller than expected but that’s on me as it was a classical caprese salad. But either way it was very good, the carbonara was the best one I’ve had in America by far. Same with the Creme brûlée

I visit the cafe pretty regularly as it’s my neighborhood coffee shop. My friend and I were trying to have a dinner and stopped by. We were seated immediately. The host this night was exceptional she was very helpful and even helped later during our meal. Our server did a fine job. I enjoyed the broccoli starter and the beet salad, very tasty. My main course fell flat for me I ordered chicken Marsala and it was way too sweet for me. I would have preferred something more savory. My friend’s ravioli was very tasty. I love the ambience of this restaurant live music was playing and I enjoyed it. The price is on the high side for a main course that fell flat.

Cute little place. The food was fine but certainly not great. Two of our dishes came with mashed potatoes that I swear were made from food service dried potato flakes. The Chicken Milanese parmesan cream sauce was super thick and tasted of flour. Ravioli were very good. Service was quick but not particularly attentive. Overall- Meh.

This place does it up right. You don't get a lot of 5 stars out of me. They had a good menu, good food (and I'm Italian with immigrant family members), super nice host (she helped me find parking for a RV when we called in for a reservation), nice server, a decent wine selection the by the glass selection was a little limited), and after circling back with us and discussing our travel plans, the host gave us croissants to take home, hoping we would come back in the morning to experience the bakery (sadly we couldn't return). I would like to return if I'm ever in town. The atmosphere was really nice.. dimly lit, romantic (if you are so inclined). I remember there was another Italian elderly man (he had the familiar accent) there who was kind of staring at my plate. When I turned toward him he was curious about my dish (cioppino) and said it looked good. I'm telling you, if you make time for this place and are friendly, they will reward you back. The price was a little over $100 for three people and we had a glass of wine, and dessert. It's not that expensive (comparatively). Great place.

Parking: I was there at night. It might be paid during the day.

If you want to enjoy your anniversary dinner, please do NOT come here.
My partner and I booked a table for our anniversary celebration after reading all the positive reviews.
We arrived and waited, while the hosts let the party behind us who didn’t have a reservation in before us. When the host was finally leading us to our table, he realized that there was no table for us, the place was full. Instead of admitting his mistake, he asked us if we got our reservation time wrong. Leaving us right in the middle of the room, he left to check his notebook, and then came back to lead us to the back room where we were left alone and forgotten for the whole evening.
I wasn’t sure what one of the wines on the menu was, so I asked the waiter to explain a little for me. He said “oh I don’t like it”, well I guess thank you for your unsolicited opinion, I still didn’t know what the wine was, so I then asked “what do you not like about it”, he answered “I don’t know how to explain it, I just don’t like it”….
Given that we were the only table in the back room, we waited for almost 15 mins for the waiter to come get the bill, eventually we got up and paid at the counter.
If this was a cheap fast food restaurant, I’d expect to have this experience, but this wasn’t, and some professionalism in the dining industry would have been appreciated.

The food was delightful, I ordered the the dungeness crab ravioli and it was just the right portion, and got creme Brule for dessert. The ambiance is unmatched. Debra was super nice and very helpful.

A very classic, traditional, Italian restaurant. Every dish comes with mashed potatoes that looked like they were shot out of a gun and “seasonal veggies” which today were green beans and one carrot.

We got the bruschetta appetizer, seasonal halibut, and bolognese. Everything was good, not great. I respect this place for what it is, but it’s not making the favorites list.

I will say the portions were large but not insane, value is high especially for Ballard area.
