We loved the vibes of this place. So positive and so friendly. Loved the prawns and dirty chai. Will definitely go back.

Good service, upscale-like atmosphere, but the food is a far fetch from authentic Sri Lankan food. If you've ever had the opportunity to taste real ethnic food, you know that something is missing from the food that they have here. Things don't need to be fancy to taste good, this place is definitely westernized. True culture is missing.

I wanted to share my recent experience at your establishment and provide some feedback on my visit. Firstly, I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of Rupee Bar. The lively ambiance and colorful decor created a welcoming and energetic environment, perfect for socializing with friends or enjoying a night out. The highlight of my visit was the impressive selection of cocktails. The mixologists at Rupee Bar truly have a talent for crafting creative and flavorful drinks. Each cocktail I tried was expertly balanced and bursting with unique flavors, making for a memorable drinking experience. I also appreciated the variety of snacks and small plates available on the menu. The food offerings complemented the drinks perfectly and provided a delicious accompaniment to the evening.

We went here to celebrate Valentine’s Day and we opted to sit outside. The heater kept us warm despite the windy weather. The servers were the sweetest. Explained everything very well and even recommended how much we should ordered. Hands down - the super fresh Naan was the best!!!!!! We ended up ordering 4. If you haven’t visited this place yet, please add it to your list for a nice date night.

I had been wanting to check this place out for awhile and it finally worked out. Another restaurant had had to cancel our Sunday night rez because the chef was sick, so I scrambled to find another option for some friends and I. We walked in at 615 and we were able to be seated in their heated outdoor patio right away. I started with the dirty chai cocktail, which was nice and warm and cozy. We opened with the naan. It was literally glistening. So good, so fresh. We don’t remember telling our server we wanted the kale salad but it arrived at our table and was delicious and I would order again. (Our server had recommended it, so maybe a bit of miscommunication). The bhel puri (one of our friends thought it was something different so we ordered haha) was not my fave. It was a puffed rice dish that I was not expecting. Pretty acidic. I just couldn’t get cereal out of my head haha. The devil prawns were cooked well and had good flavor. We got the pumpkin dish, which had some squash and I believe a curry. This was decent, I think I wanted a little more of the squash/pumpkin component. The black cod in tumeric curry was cooked perfectly and was very satisfying. The kerala fried chicken was a standout. Slightly spicy and very comforting. The pandan ice cream banana split was a nice surprise. I loved the lime sorbet in that dish. Overall, a great place, I would go back!

The cocktails did not disappoint us. Mutton chops and prawns are to die for. The naan and dal we ordered was also yummy. Taking away one star because the eggplants were too oily and the Kerala chicken was okay. The atmosphere is very cozy and welcoming.

Awesome Sri Lankan Bar and Restaurant! Cocktails and food were both fantastic! The menu uses seasonal ingredients so not sure if my recommendations would still be there, but the Pumpkin Curry was awesome as was the Dhal. For dessert we had the Watalappan which was also delicious. Cocktails were all interesting, great innovation there using Indian and Sri Lankan ingredients. The place is small so reservations recommendeded. We didn't have any so we had to eat outside; fortunately they have outdoor heating so it was pretty comfortable. Great job to Rupee Bar and we'll be back soon!

Great atmosphere, nice staff, and incredible dishes with such fastidious attention to texture, flavor, color, and presentation...The delicious aroma as you enter tells you everything you need to know. This was a special experience and memorable night out. The lamb shank fell off the bone and was so tender. The fenugreek sauce with the sturgeon was out of this world. The Bhel Puri was an incredible and masterful blend of flavors and textures - peas, celery, apples, tamarind, yogurt, cashews, and puffed rice. Really looking forward to going again.

Rupee bar is an excellent gem few blocks from Market Street. We came on Tuesday night without a reservation and were able to snag a table outside, they have heaters so we didn't mind it. They have very few tables inside, so I would definitely recommend making a reservation as it's a popular spot. The ambience is absolutely beautiful - it was nominated for James Beard award for it. They have a well curated selection of small plates - we ordered the dal curry, naan, eggplant and Kerala fried chicken. Everything was flavorful and it would be hard to pick a favorite. The cocktails were inventive and bright, made with Indian spices. Everything is reasonable priced.

1/12/24: Excellent modern takes on Sri Lankan food. Had the naan, dal, kale salad, fried eggplant, fish cutlets, and the panda ice cream dessert. Naan, dal, kale salad were the highlights.

One of the best meals I've had in a long time. Intensely flavorful, fresh, unique. Service was knowledgeable, personable, kind, it's also one of the better interior design jobs I've ever seen in a restaurant. Appropriate music volume, gorgeous bar, it's a very small place, but much like its food, it packs a punch in memorability.Food Order:Naan (Mint Tamarind Chutney)Pumpkin CurryMutton RollsKerala Fried Chicken

The food portions are very small and the waiters barely come to the table.
