This place is a great local diner vibes. Came in on a Saturday for brunch and there were tons of families and friends getting chatting and have a great start to the weekend. Staff was friendly attentive and quick. Food was solid not amazing but solid diner food. They got the cook on the eggs perfect and the hash brown was near perfect. Both needed a bit of salt but that was on the table so no big deal. The pancake was fluffy and large! And coffee was great. Great place to spend...
My partner and I stumbled across Salmon Bay Cafe while staying in Ballard. We wanted an affordable, filling breakfast before we went out adventuring and that is what we got. He got the seafood Benedict (expect the small shrimps you used to see in salads in the 80s and 90s) and I got eggs and biscuits (really scones). It was exactly what we needed. No frills, just a solid diner. But that isn't why this spot is a gem.

I love this place. The service is really fast, really nice location by the water. Classic diner food. I only have one complaint. I really don't like their coffee. i'm a black coffee drinker. It's just super weak and flavorless. Unfortunate, because it's within walking distance for me, and I'd love to be able to get breakfast and coffee at the same time.
