In my experience, we normally see an automated tip added for large groups or in fine dining places, but wherever it happens - the server discloses that info when the check arrives. Sam's is just a sports bar, and we did not notice the sign on the door while coming in. There were just two of us sitting at the bar and the bartender very eagerly accepted our $40 cash tip without saying a word. Only after we came home, we realized that there was a $30 tip added to the credit card receipt as well.

This place is a mess. Showed up last weekend with my friends and they were closed, even though their times on Friday says open until 2am. Called today to see if they would be open tomorrow (Friday), after 8 or 9 rings someone finally answered, and she didn't know what time they would close tomorrow, and she didn't know what DJ would be playing. She referred us to their Instagram, which doesn't have any information on whether they would close at 12am or 2am...nor which DJ would be playing. The lack of communication lands squarely on the owners/management because they clearly are not informing their employees of what's going on. My friends and I won't be back.

Went there to watch the Seahawks and our bartender Reilly was very attentive. His drinks were made with love, and the food was pretty good! The amount of tvs in the restaurant offer a view from every angle. I will coming back to see what it’s like on the weekend.

Best place to watch Army Navy game!
Bartender Reilly held it down, and turn it into vibe!! Much appreciated, working alone and serving all the customers/ veterans!!!

I have to admit that I expected a good bar and Sam’s delivered! Reiley is the best server in town, hands down!

An absolute disgrace of an establishment, tourists visiting the city, got charged 45 % of a tip. Was never informed that auto gratuity was on the bill, they also charged extra for a table of 7 or more plus the tip I added, staff were very sneaky would definitely not recommend! Took advantage of poor tourists

We celebrated my son Max’s 24th birthday at Sam’s Tavern this past Sunday, and I can’t stop telling everyone just how wonderful our experience was.
We used to live in Seattle before moving to Oregon last year, and Sam’s was one of a few places that Max gave his stamp of approval. We have been there many times for family dinners, but had never had a visit like this. Not Sams, not anywhere. Max is neurodivergent & has a tendency to fixate on different things. This past week leading up to our trip, he couldn’t stop talking about how excited he was to go back and have his birthday lunch at Sams Tavern.
When we arrived, Reilly greeted us warmly and showed us to the table that we reserved online. It was already set with a “Happy Birthday Max!” sign, despite us getting there about 30 minutes early. The bar was decorated for Halloween and football was on TV, setting the perfect stormy Sunday vibe.
Even though Reilly was the only person working, you’d never know it. For our entire lunch, he went above and beyond to make the day special for Max. Remembering his name every time he came by, asking Max his favorite football team and changing the TV’s to their game(and the sound), keeping everyone’s drinks topped off, and making sure the food came out hot and delicious, always with a smile or a witty quip, ensuring we were all having a good time.
Our burgers, sandwiches, and fries were all fantastic, but the highlight was when Reilly surprised all of us and brought Max a Butterfinger milkshake and a slice of cheesecake on a plate that said “Happy 24th Max!” written in chocolate. Max hasn’t stopped smiling since.
We’ve never had such personal, friendly, patient and genuinely caring service at a restaurant. Huge thanks to Sam’s and to Reilly for making Max’s day feel truly about him. We’ll never forget it, and I don’t think Max will ever want to celebrate anywhere else.

Great sports bar in an area that is severely lacking them. Plenty of TVs, cheap(er) beer, good food. Riley was great!
