Meh - skip it. Shell chips in the poorly shucked oysters, mignonette was pretentiously presented as something amazing - it wasn't. Lamb was cooked perfectly med rare but served cold. Seafood stew was nothing special. Gelato was good. Cobbler was average at best. For 300 bucks and all the great reviews i expected more.

Very good food and service. Friendly staff. Octopus, Brussels and bababa pudding--yum! Connected to the Kimpton Hotel.

This review is solely based on the food. My waiter was awesome and provided excellent service. The food. I could see from the menu the chef was going for a southern spin on several dishes but they completely missed the mark.First up the sole main dish. It was missing basic seasoning, such as salt and pepper. The texture was a bit mushy with a few crunchy pieces. Unfortunately the sauce/beans that came with the dish added very little flavor and seemed a bit out of place. My side dish of collard greens lacked flavor and was not properly cooked. The greens were hard and tasteless.Dessert….I was so excited to try the banana pudding. The base was thin and slightly runny with dried bananas as a topping. Why? There were no classic wafers, instead it had weird hard chunks of something that melted and fizzed when eaten. All in all it was a poorly executed attempt at southern cuisine.I do however want to thank the restaurant for removing the collard greens from my bill.

Absolutely loved this place! From the ambiance to the staff and food! We ordered the steak which was cooked in front of us and it was delicious. We also had the cheeseburger and it was delicious as well. The fries were perfect, crisp and seasoned, with fresh grated cheese on top. The atmosphere especially made the dinner memorable.

Walk-in for 2 on a Monday at the bar, no wait Our Bartender (and server) Rick was wonderful! He's super pleasant and fun to watch as he tended the bar. Went with their non alcohol drink, Walk On By, with Spiced pear shrub, cranberry, lemon, soda. I particularly enjoyed this non alcoholic drink as it was very well thought out and tasty compared to other places with mediocre non-alcoholic drinks. Charred octopus was yummy and great texture and balance! What was most surprising was these little sweet drop peppers. My friend ordered the seafood boil. I thought it lacked flavor (you could lose a lot of flavor through boiling, so I'm not surprised) Im also not a big fan of also smothering seafood In loads of butter, so for me, I'd pass on this dish. I ordered the King Cole duck breast. The duck was cooked quite nicely. However, I was not a big fan of the gochujuang eggplant purée; to me too intense and didn't feel it goes well with the duck. The lotus chip, super simple and provided the crunchy texture! Seasoned nicely and fried perfectly golden brown (big fan of that single lotus chip) lol Chèvre cheesecake was so yummy! That hazel graham cracker crust was so lovely! I really enjoyed the combo of the strong flavors of the chèvre with that hazelnut! (Staff, share recipe please ) I'd come back to try halibut and branzino!

Highly recommended by friends. We tried to make reservations at dinner time without luck. So we are so happy to make reservations at lunch. We are so disappointed to find out it is brunch instead seafood we expected. We took the brunch and hopefully it is as good as dinner. The brunch is oaky and very expensive. At least two groups left when hey find out difference between lunch and dinner. My question is that can management make things right for dinner and lunch reservations? Just tell the truth. They also charged employees benefits on your bill! BYW, service is great. That is the only good part.

Food was quite good, especially the Octopus and Lamb. Our service which was provided by Brent was prompt and professional. Had a variety of cocktails- very creative. The issue was the 5% surcharge which was tacked onto the bill at the end of the night and never acknowledged at any point. It was only noted at the bottom of the DESSERT menu (see photo) which was slid in front of us at the end of the meal. The irony is that it says that they support the Seattle Minimum Wage Ordinance which is why the charge is added- but if they really supported it they would just pay their staff properly and incorporate that 5% into their listed prices so the customer knows exactly what they are paying for an item. In all actuality by doing this they don’t support the Minimum Wage Ordinance at all.Our server Brent had told us about their lunch menu and had convinced us to come back the next day which we fully intended to do until I saw the surcharge. Our bill was about $250 so the additional 5% was only $15 or so which I don’t care about, but on principle I will not support a place that engages in shady business practices such as hidden charges and fees. Had The Shaker and Spear been upfront about this or acknowledged this charge at any point during our experience (including when I made the reservation) we would have definitely returned. Hidden charges are never a good look for any establishment, and when there are a plethora of dining options in Seattle it is just a shortsighted business decision.

Definitely come here if you’re wanting an experience rather than to fill your belly. Although very small portions, the food was beautifully presented and the cocktails were fantastic! We had the seasonal oysters for appetizer. I had the duck breast. Both were delicious.
